I went from squeezing myself into size 22's to a 4 and my wedding dress falls off me now!

Oh, and I am a runner now! That to me is just as huge!

I can run along with my 6yo son, and play soccer with him. My 23yo daughter and I share clothes. I can walk for hours with my partner, and he and I went hiking in New Zealand, and he got winded before me. I also realise that big and healthy is better than skinny and living off cigarettes and coffee. I have a healthier relationship with food than I have had in my entire life.

Since last March I went from a size 20 jeans (plus size), 2-3x top to size 16 jeans and xl top!!! I now go to the gym and can walk much more than I have in a long long time. Took me 19 years to get under 200 lbs. and I love it!

Love seeing everyone else's results and happiness.

Oh I thought of a few more.

I am not longer a slave to 'bad' food. Don't get me wrong, when my band starting leaking, I gained because I could eat more, BUT I never EVER had the urge to drink a coke and still don't, or have sugar in my coffee/tea, or have a craving to have KFC. I chose 'quality' food over junk food, every single time.

And while I didn't enjoy (and still don't enjoy) formal exercise, I love getting out and walking, or skating, or running around with my kids. I enjoy being active, where I used to prefer sitting on the sidelines watching every one else get sweaty.

So leaking band or not, the lapband HAS changed the way I perceive food and has changed the level of activeness in my life. I don't think I quite realised that until I rejoined this forum a week ago.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
