For my pre-op, I have two shakes a day, 4 oz of Protein from fish, meat, poultry, cheese, etc., non-starchy veggies and Clear Liquids. While I'm glad that I'm not having any issues with hunger, I think the liquids only pre-op better prepares you for your post-op transition.

I totally understand that. My Surgeon has me drinking up to 2 protien drinks a day and then a normal dinner. I'm not hungry, I'm averaging 750 calories day, meeting my protien goals, and I'm losing weight but I keep thinking "am I doing this wrong?"

I'm also thinking I've looked at too many different post op diets before my surgeon actually gave me mine. I keep telling my self "when you find a good mechanic you trust them to keep your car running once you've found a surgeon you trust you should trust them at least the same amount."

Day 6 of the liquids and today is a little easier than the others. The hardest thing is having to fix supper for my kids. The smell of food is indescribably painful LOL. But I have a wonderful boyfriend that has made it easier and he won't eat regular food around me and has actually done mostly liquids with me. Still trying to keep myself busy, u can only clean a house so spotless and now I have to get motivated to do something else. Closer to being a new me and that motivates me more than anything. I have struggled with my weight my entire life and tried every diet imaginable but the band will be something totally different. That will be my little buddy for the rest of my life LOL. This website has helped me tremendously too and thanks from the bottom of my heart to everyone that has given me a pep talk or pick me up :). That means so much to me. Again THANKS!!!!

Ok I almost have this pre-op diet in the bag and have my surgery Wednesday... I am so so excited!!! Now that I look back 2 weeks of liquids have flew by but anxiety is starting to kick in and I am really nervous about the pain and stuff after surgery. People at work keep asking me if I am afraid to be put to sleep and I tell em "Shoot no, that's the best sleep u can get!" They think I am crazy but what I worry about is after surgery. The gas pain I think will be worse than the soreness from the incisions and that seems to be the case with the other threads I have read by previous bandsters. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Not everyone has gas pain. I had a minor case but I think some people also have a low threshold to pain. For me the surgery was a piece of cake except it took me a week to recover from the trauma of all the meds, anesthesia, anti biotics and fluids pumped into my body. I felt as though I was drugged for a week even though I didn't take any meds or drugs post surgery.

I had no gas pain at all!

After surgery I went to the mall and did some shopping. I released all that gas by walking. The next day I went to he airport to catch my flight and did a lot of walking. I do get a lot of pain where my port is. Get your meds before surgery and take them.

Today is day 5 and I had some regular food. I was starving and had no energy. So far so good.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
