Eating After Adjustment!

Recommended Posts

I am post-op surgery October 12, 2012. I just had my second Fluid remevol within 2 weeks today. I am not able to hold any fluid or food down. My doctor says I may possibly have a slippage and have to get a swallow test. I was also told possible surgery and have it put back into place. Does anyone know how the slippage is possible? I forgot to ask my doctor about this and what are my options. I also need to know how soon after the removal of fluid can I eat solid food. So far I have not eaten and I am afraid if I try I will vomit. Please help!

A lot of things can cause a slip. Vomiting, over eating, carbonation, letting your band be too tight, etc. It could also just be a rare fluke.

The most common cause of slips are bands that are too tight.

Usually I am allowed to eat immediately after an unfill, but you'll have to ask your doctor what his instructions are to be sure. Especially since you may be dealing with a slip.

Best wishes.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
