So I k ow thy every doctor is extremely different in how they want their patients to work with their LapBand, but I was just curious to know what's everyone's phases were in terms of post op eating. I do shakes for 2 weeks, soft foods for 2-4 weeks, then solids. I'm going to find out for sure but I think my doctor still wants us to do 2 shakes and 1 meal during the soft and solids stage. What does your doctor require?

Mine was about the same.. Clear Liquids post-op day 1.. then 2 weeks of full liquids.. 2 weeks of puree.. then on week 4 we can do mechanical soft.. finally on week 6 a regular diet as long as you can mash whatever you eat with a fork.. then slowly I was able to eat meals once I learned to chew properly..

Ok so my plan isn't far off. I have to find out when I'm allowed a full regular diet. Right now I'm not exercising at all but on Monday I'm going to start walking. My doctor recommended it during my follow up so I want to start.

What are "mechanical soft foods"? Sorry if that sounds dumb :-/

Mechanical soft are foods that are blended, chopped, ground, or just mashed so you can chew and swallow them easier.. along the same lines as a puree diet just a thicker consistency.. hopefully I explained that correctly..

I did 7 days liquid... Now on to 10 days soft foods twice a day.. . My dr said after the 10 days I can start solids as tolerated.

Mine seems so lax compared to everyone else. 5 days clear liquids and shakes, 5 days full liquids, 5 days soft foods then onto solids. I'm day 11 right now so I had shredded chicken for lunch and it was so good!

It's so interesting how every doctor is different. I read an educational booklet that my doctor gives to all of his patients which includes info about all of my phases and it says that during the soft food phase, they still want us to have two shakes a day and 1 meal for soft foods. It also says that they recommend two shakes a day when I'm on solids, but I honestly don't see me being able to survive very long with only one meal a day. I'll have to bring that up to my doctor and nutritionist when I go in on the 25th.

Mine is similar to Rockstar_Jen. Two days after surgery only liquids. Then 5 days of pureed foods, one week of mushy food, and then chicken and fish for a week. Today I had my first fill so I am on liquids today, pureed tomorrow, mushy on Sunday, and real food on Monday! Can't wait. Of course I have to go slow and make sure I can tolerate everything but I am excited. I haven't started exercising yet. I need to just haven't. Also, I am only allowed 1/2 c of food.

Yeah my doctor also recommends two shakes a day so you can get your Protein requirements.. it really isn't hard to adjust to eating small meals.. I am not sure about consuming one meal but with proper fills and a watchful eye on your behaviors you should do well.. I probably eat half of what I used to eat in one meal, but now it takes all day..

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
