I had acid reflux about 6 months ago and had most of the Fluid taken out of my band. Gained about 10 lbs. I have slowly had fluid add back in . I had .2 put in on Monday. For the last 3 nights acid reflux has started again. It usually happens about between 2-3 in the morning. I am very good about not eating 3 hours before bed. I drink plenty of Water to make sure pouch is washed out. All things I have been told to do. My band is no where near as full as where it was when I had fluid removed last time. I wonder if the acid is coming from my belly being empty?

I did have a very slight slippage last time (it took two doctors to figure it out). I take prilosec every morning. Any advice would be great!!!!

IMHO, call your Dr. Heartburn is a serious problem and if you are already taking Prilosec, there is something wrong.

Heartburn can lead to esophageal erosion and left untreated cancer. Before banding I had silent reflux, no heartburn, but erosion. Nothing to mess around with.

Good Luck!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
