when can I start feeling a difference?

Recommended Posts

I'm 4 months in my journey and lost 22 kilos. But I honestly don't feel a difference. Is it because I'm morbidly obese?

I'm 4mths out too and have arthritis in both knee's and they're just starting to feel some what better. Some days(rainy/cold) they still really hurt, but they are better.

Some things take awhile to even realize there's a difference. I just realized yesterday that I have not (knock on wood) had any problems with my sciatic , which I always had for years, every day.But didn't notice until yesterday, don't know when it stopped, but it did.lol

I've gone from severe obseity to morbid and now just a tick from obese, never thought being obese would make me happy.

Hang in there, you will start feeling a difference, I promise.

I am 5 months out and like you don't feel a difference, but if I think about it, I am getting a number of compliments and questions if I lost weight (even though the scale isn't moving), I have not taken an antacid since the first day of my pre op and prior to that I had tums at home, work, in my purse. I have not had indigesten or heartburn since before pre op. So I suppose those can all be things that I have noticed that are not related to the scale. Going for fill 4 today............so frustrated with the non existant weight loss (no gain) ugh

I am 6 mos out and down 57 lbs and feel great lots of painful joint pain gone, back pain gone, I look down at my body and cant believe what I see (with close on) it takes time so keep working on it. I keep telling myself "I've never been this low" "I've never been able to stay on a diet this long" and that has kept me going. 33 lbs to go and I cant remember when I have ever been this close to goal weightI I love losing weight now, its exciting and the scale moves in the right direction.... You'll do it just keep working it takes time and it does work.

I'm 2 months out and down 25 lbs. Like many here, the scale isn't moving but, this week especially, I've been told how good I look and how much weight I've lost! I must be losing inches, rather than weight. That's ok with me, because I've been eating pizza LOL

Hang in there, you'll see all your hard work pay off soon enough!!

I haven't been exercising b/c of my knee's ,plus having another surgery, but I did just get a bike and started riding it short distances, very excited about that.

That must be hard. Hopefully with more weight loss you'll be able to move better. I see a huge difference in how fast I lose when I work out.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
