To tight

Recommended Posts

Ok guys I'm needing some help! I love in oklahoma I drove to Dallas today to get a fill, I haven't had one in over a year ! I had 6cc in there (shocking to me) he first started with 3 which made me have 9 watched me through fluro and keep dropping it finally leaving at 1.8 added!

My fluids went down great and I felt great! Leaving Dallas I stopped and got a Gatorade from about decator on I started pbing! Three hours later I get home and still can't drink anything! Should I give it a day or two or find someone here to take some out? Like I said sat in his office at least twenty min we both saw my Fluid go straight In GREAT , now this :( long drive to get .2 takin out.

Are you holding down your own saliva? If not, go get an unfill asap. Just 24 hours of not being able to swallow your own saliva can cause significant and dangerous dehydration.

If you can hold down your own saliva then it might be that you drank the gatorade too fast, it made you PB and now it's caused your stoma to swell. What worked for me was sipping on pineapple juice (for some reason this would 'sit' even if Water or hot tea didn't) and not doing anything to throw up again and usually it settled enough to have mushies within 24 hours. If you keep pbing, you're going to keep irritating the stoma, so slow and steady. If you don't feel any better tomorrow despite not pbing anymore, then in my opinion, you're over-tight and will need an unfill.

Thank you so much for responding so fast! It's so hard to tell if I'm keeping my saliva down because after the Gatorade I have just been miserable! I prob did drink it to fast, going a yr with no fill I forgot till I had already did it. :(. I'm going to try pineapple and pray that helps a lil and that I just irritated it!! I pray!! Thanks again

When I wasn't holding down my saliva, I was pretty much throwing frothy, colorless liquid back up every 10 - 15 mins for 24 hours. You can't miss it if that's what you're doing.

Take it easy, corilyn, and I hope you feel better soon.

So you were able to drink liquids with no problem before you left the Dr.'s office?

Then later...it became difficult to do so...when the welling started? Si when the swelling goes down you won't have a problem anymore?

At least I think I understand the situation..(?)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
