In the Red Zone, and it sucks!

Here is how dumb I am:

I went in for my third fill on Monday Feb. 11. I was at 5cc in my 10cc band already, having previously had two fills of 2.5cc each. I would say that I was this close to the Green Zone. The nurse put in 1cc.

My first mistake:

I didn't feel the squeezing sensation that I had felt with the other fills, so I thought it wouldn't make much difference.

My second mistake:

I barely sipped the Water I was supposed to drink and was in a hurry to go.

My third mistake:

Even though I was having trouble with liquids and pureed foods, I wanted to give it a little more time. By the time it was well over 24 hours past my fill and I realized that I was having way more trouble than I should and it wasn't going to improve, the doctor's office was closed. That was my day off, of course.

As long as I can get in enough fluids to get by and a minimal amount of nutrition, I don't want to miss work to get this fixed. That means I am on liquids, which are still a challenge, until I can get unfilled a little on Monday. I had an 8 oz bottle of Boost for lunch today. It took most of my 40 minute lunch break to drink it, and I was absolutely stuffed. Ugh.

On the plus side, this has gotten me off of a plateau. I have also gotten a crash course in all of the "you are full now!" signals.

Yeah, I'm thinking I'll be good if she takes out 0.5cc. I promise I will stay in the office until I'm sure, though! In the meantime, I am sipping as much Water as I can.

I don't think you're dumb at all. In fact, I think you're smart to realize you're too tight and are going in on Monday to have some removed. Way too often people walk around entirely too tight for months then act all shocked when they end up with a slip. You're wise enough to not make that mistake.

Just chalk it up to a learning experience :)

Oh and be sure to take a big drink after your unfill on Monday, not just a sip, to make sure you're not still too tight.

Best wishes to you!

oh boy, I feel for you having to go through the weekend being too tight. Happened to me the last time I needed an unfill. Good luck!

I got 0.7cc removed today, putting me at 5.3cc. I have never been so excited to have Tomato Soup and tuna salad for lunch! I had lost 9 lbs since my fill last Monday.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
