Leenerbumps--

My guess is YES....you are eating too much and too fast!! That's the feeling I get when I get stuck....there tonight! Tried Pasta for lunch...didn't eat more than 1/2 cup or so but I did eat too fast....all afternoon was blessed w/ a bit of a golf ball....then I came home and felt a bit hungry and took a bite of tomato....ugh!!!!! :P So back on hot liquids....cold causes spasms!!

GOd Bless,

Hi everyone - I'm new to the group banded Feb 15th, 2006 - 21lbs Dr. Spiegel, first fill March 16th.

My problems so far are Gas in the shoulder and neck area maybe 3 times a week after I eat, I think I'm eating too fast? And also, food is getting stuck in my throat it feels like a golf ball is sitting there and it's so uncomfortable. Sometimes it's so bad (sorry for the visual here) but have to vomit to get it out. Anyone else have these problems and if so, how the heck do I get rid of the "stuck" problem? I'm waiting to get my 2nd fill May 25th, I'm totally unrestricted right now and can pretty much eat whatever I want but I don't, I try to keep my portions small and I eat allot of Fish and Vegis.

I've had the same mid back pain. I used to get that pre-band...but that was due to gall bladder pain. As someone explained earlier, you can get pain in different spots than from where the pain originated. I figured that the Protein choices I was making were too high in fat, hence the familiar back pain. Now that I've read all of your posts, maybe it is eating too fast...or both? Hate to bring up the gall bladder thing and cause panic but that was a pain that I well recognized. Hope we all figure this out soon. I think it is interesting that I keep running in to MelodyJ and Leenerbups. I wonder if we are experiencing the same thing since we are all banded around the same time.

My gas was completely gone til I got filled!! Then whooop there it is!!! Both ends!!! ;)

I believe....through my vast personal knowledge and experience...HA....that it is definitely too big of bites and too fast that produces the golf balls!!! I told my husband I'm going to get the hang of this band or die trying!! ;) I just go back to clear broth and it settles right down by the next day! If you keep eating then you just pile food on the stuck part which is ABSOLUTELY miserable!!! :D

Terez---don't think your totally unrestricted or you wouldn't be getting "stuck"....remember you didn't have this pre-band!!! So....we gotta slow down...continue small portions....I"ve went back ot the baby spoon for size control in my mouth!!!!

Praying this helps!!

God Bless,

Melody

Thanks MelodyJ. I'm definitley going to stick to my smaller portions and eat slower! After reading about that poor lady that half of her stomach is dead, and how she's trying to deal with all of that scared the crap outta me! I feel so bad for her!!

Teachntots, I guess we are the three amigos..lol

I have slowed down considerably and it has helped, although my band seems to be very cranky were this is concerned.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
