just got a call about my blood work

My glucose was only 55 any suggestions on ways to get it up and stay up.

Its not uncommon to become hypoglycemic after wls. Mine was 40 once. You just have to eat Protein to keep it up. Carbs will only make it go up and down. I find eating protein every couple of hours helps greatly.

My nutritionist suggested a pre bedtime snack of 2:1 carb:protein to stabilize morning BG. She said to aim for 7 gr Protein to 14 gr healthy carb such as cheese with whole grain crackers. Be sure to allow for this in your calorie count for the day. I had this problem post op and eating this type of a snack around 8 pm helped keep my am BG above 70, the threshold for low blood glucose.

I went through it the first week , now I eat some yogurt about an hour before going to bed it helped in the morning.

Keep your Protein levels up. That is best way to level off blood sugar. If you don't eat enough you could be low.

Hummm that might be what is going on with me. I had a Protein Shake at 6:30 am and by 8:30 I started to feel real shaky . Guess i will have that checked out .
