Hi! I am 4 weeks post-op. I had the lap band with plication done and I am wondering if everything is ok. At first I could barely finish my small liquid portions and had this large full feeling. I also was so happy not to feel the awful hunger feeling I had. Now a month after I am feeling hungry and finishing portions and not feeling full. I think I might be going into slight crazy panic that somethings wrong or plication isnt working. I am probably being hard on myself but I guess I just don't know what to expect. Should I be feeling hungry???? I have lost 25 pounds so far. I have slipped a few times with food that wasn't on my mushy list and wondering if that messed everything up. No fills yet.

Congratulations on the WLS. My thoughts are always when in doubt call the doctor or dietitian. Until you're allowed to eat off the mushies, it's better not to eat the wrong foods. They give you a food list because they have experience. I am not trying to come down on you but it is for your own good. I get a fill Friday and my doctor believes in 3 days liquids and then 3 days mushies before going back to real food. Every doctor has their ideas. I always found SF Popsicles great to have. You get liquids and it does fill you a little.

Good luck.

Thanks for the advice! sugar free popsicles were a great treat. I also think I am being so hard on myself. I guess I have all these crazy expectations. Every day is a struggle.

I like Edy's fruit bars, n/s the best. I buy the black cherry, strawberry-kiwi and mixed berry box. I live in Boston and don't know if they are available everywhere. I am happy you like the Popsicles.

hmm I will have to look for those. Right now feel very limited with what I am eating. Just have to be patient. Next week going back to the gym and really looking forward to it!!!

It sounds like you're doing great. As the post-op swelling goes down, you have less restriction. Then you are pretty much doing it on your own until the band is adjusted to a point that it can help more.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
