Hi all. I had the lap band surgery in 2011. I lost 60 pounds and have not lost one pound in almost a year. I noticed this month that I'm up 5 pounds! I'm pretty freaked out. I just would like to talk about my general fears etc. Thanks! Megan

Hey Megan!

I'm only about an hour southeast of you in Powhatan. I was banded in 2007, lost 70 lbs, then gained some back after my 2nd son was born. I've kept 40 lbs off, & want to get back on track. Let me know if you're interested in e-mailing back and forth. I don't get up to Charlottesville too often, but having someone close by to encourage me would be great!

Cool! I'll send you a short one tonight. I'll have more time tomorrow during my husband's knee surgery.

I would love to join the two of you. I am in Mineral, VA. I work in Richmond. I was banded in 2008, lost 70 pounds, gained 30 back after spine surgery and need to lose about 80 pounds at least. I am working at getting back on track and making an appointment with my bariatric surgeon to get my band filled.

I would also like to email some fellow Virginia bandsters. The extra support would be great!

Cool! I'm always in need of extra support. Megan & I are both on My Fitness Pal, so we can connect on there as well. My email address is norm_jen@verizon.net , so when either of y'all get a chance, send me a quick note about yourself. Look forward to hearing from ya!

Ok ladies, how are y'all doing this week? I've been kinda stressed at work, & the scale is showing it. I'm too embarrassed to go back to the nurse practitioner at St. Mary's (Jeannine @ Commonwealth Surgeons), & the nutritionist I was seeing at St. Francis was more interested in selling Vitamins. Gotta get back on track and focus! Would really appreciate your thoughts and prayers. :)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
