I know they say no drink w meals, but is 2 oz. too much?

Recommended Posts

I sometimes do about a tablespoon. I would say 2 oz is too much ( that's 1/4 cup). Could you brush you teeth? I personally chew gum. Yeah Some frown on that but my doctor never said not to.

Yes, that is the point. You don't want to wash it down. It needs to go down slowly to keep you from getting hungry quicker. If you tae a sip, to rinse your mouth and wet it. that should be fine. 2 oz is way too much to drink right after your meal! Of course, that is my opinion, check with your surgeon. Other people will have other opinions too,..

My doctor allows me to have drinks with meals. HOWEVER, it has to be a minute after eating and I have to wait another minute before eating again, and it's just a SIP of Water.< /p>

There are several reasons for not drinking with meals as you know... so in my opinion even 2 oz is too much

more than 1 sip to clean your mouth out is too much according to my meeting with the PA today at post op.

As you can see, everyone's doctor is different and will have different opinions. I highly suggest talking to YOUR doctor to see what he/she advises for YOU.

My surgeon says no drinking 30 minutes before and after eating. If they told you no eating and drinking with meals then listen to them.

my dr said it's ok to drink up until your meal and that a few sips with your meal is fine as long as you wait about a minute like you would do for food. I only drink with dinner but it is very minimal.

Just my two cents, listen to your Dr., no one else's. He didn't say 2 ounces was ok, he said none. If he had meant two ounces, then my guess is that he would have said that.

You are going to find a wide range of Dr.'s instructions on this site, from those who tell their patients that they can have a steak dinner with all the trimmings the day after surgery, to those who want their patients to drink Clear liquids for a month after.

All I know is that if something isn't working with my banded life, my surgeon will not give a damn about what I read on this site, he will ask me are you following MY instructions. You trusted the man enough to cut you open and sew a piece of silicone around your stomach, trust him with the after care instructions as well.

And if in doubt, ask HIM.

I saw my surgeon this week and he said the minimum amount of Water makes the food slip through the band and that's not how the band works! Weight loss= NO WATER 1/2 hr before or 1/2 hour after!

My doctor is very strict! I cannot drink liquids while I eat. I also cannot have liquids 1 hour before meals, and up to 2 hours after meals. Every doctor is different, though, so be sure to follow your doctor's instructions!

I was told that if you swallow gum they have to do surgery to remove the gum. I do sometimes drink with my meals

My doctor's orders to me, NO Water, NO sip, NO rinse of water to swallow! Keep your band full as long as possible.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
