Will this be your first fill?

Sent from my iPhone using LapBandTalk

They put 4cc in me at surgery but had to have it taken out so march 7th will be my first feel. I don't want to feel like I did. I want the fill and want to feel normal

I went through the same thing. I kept saying what on earth did I do to myself getting the band. My husband did not know what to do to me I went into a depression from having so much pain from the gas they put in me at surgery. But.....after I saw the weight coming off and started feeling better and the gas was gone, I started to come out of the depression and at goal now I feel fantastic. It does get better. I was mourning the loss of all that food and Snacks and I think your body goes through a phase of adjusting to not having all the junk food and large quantities. I never had a fill but I do remember barely getting Water down the first week or two and when the doctor asked if I was going to get any fills I remember vowing at that point that I would never be in that position again of not being able to get water down. We all make different decisions on how we want to handle this band and I honestly never regretted my decision after the rough start. Look ahead and when you start seeing the weight loss you too will be very happy.

Kind of feeling the same feeling today.. It's such a different journey that I don't think anything will prepare you for what's ahead. I know I need to keep focused on the positive future thats ahead... But today is just one of those days I need to force myself to act right!! I guess everyone's entitled to one of those day every once in a while...trying to keep my head up!

I hope by the time you read this post you are feeling better!

This reminds me that I need to write down TODAY my list of why I'm doing this...all my dreams for what I want out of this radical decision...so that post-surgery (next month), should I get the "bands blues" I can re-read my list and remember to keep my eye on the longterm.

I hope for you it is all smooth sailing for here.

Very good idea! Please post here when the list is started(finished will never come):

My List:

I did this because I failed at every other method and attempt(many times).

I want to live to see my grandkids grow up.

I want to be active for many years to come.

I love the freedom that skinny gives me.

I want to tie my shoes, put on my socks without holding my breath.

I love that my clothes fit.

I wanted to regain control of my life.

The confidence of conquering my addiction has made me fearless.

To Be Continued...

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
