Doctor very supportive of lapband surgery

Recommended Posts

Went to my support meeting and it was refreshing to hear doctors support lap over sleeve and bypass even though it is less money for him and more follow up. In his experience he said since it is adjustable it will work long term . His patients are healthier and actually did not support sleeve at all. It made me feel good since I was on the fence and am not in green zone yet. Just thought since most doctors push other surgeries this was good to hear . Also he is very successful and has done a lot of wls. He said his wife has it!

That's awesome you found a great surgeon. Like you, I'm incredibly blessed with an outstanding surgeon that not only strongly supports the Lap Band but he's been a huge source of encouragement and support for me on my journey.

It's nice to know there's others out there!

My Dr. was like this, he won't do the sleeve because he believes that long term, the band is better. Plus most of his office staff have the band.

That's really good to hear! My surgeon had the lap band himself and most of his staff has it as well, it's a nice resource since they know what you mean when you are asking questions about what you are experiencing.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
