Why does my fills only last a day?

Recommended Posts

I am tight in the doctors office. Next day I can eat like there is no fill. Does it sound like a leak?

First, please out your profile so we can help you.

When was your surgery?

How many fills have you had?

Keep in mind fills aren't to stop you from eating anything. They're to find the right Fluid level to allow you to be satisfied on less food for longer periods of time.

I was the same for a long time. Most of my first few fills didn't really give me any restriction beyond the first day. But as I moved closer to the green zone, they lasted longer, and eventually, I had full time restriction. It took a fair amount of fills to get to that point for me too. Not everyone gets restriction within the first few fills.

So it's not unusual if you're just starting out and have not yet hit the green zone. But if you've had restriction before and now seem to be losing it within a day no matter how much they fill you, that's a different scenario altogether.

Hey I had my first fill yesterday , really don't have any restrictions yet . Doctor told me to come back next week and he'll add more to my band. Right now I have 3cc in my band, so I'll keep every one posted. Hopefully I'll have more restrictions next week.

I've not done it from my phone, but I know from a pc you can click on your own profile then there's an "edit profile" button on the right upper side of the page.

I don't usually feel the changes from the fill until about a week out, maybe you need to give it some time?

It looks like you were banded in October, so I'm guessing you've had maybe 3 fills?

It's possible you just don't have adequate Fluid in your band yet. For most people it does take multiple fills over time before they finally really feel the presence of their band.

Be patient, it will come :)

wow your doctor moves fast!

If you're worried about a leak, just have him check the Fluid in your band. It's super easy, all he has to do is withdraw the Fluid in the band to measure it and immediately put it back in. By doing this you'll know whether or not you are missing fluid.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
