Restaurant Card

Recommended Posts

I've not used it, but have it if necessary. My Dr. has a printable one available on his website.

We got a plastic Patient ID Card from Allergan, the makers of LapBand, when we sent in the product registration with our serial number. The card identifies the LapBand serial number, size, etc. It has a "Note to restaurants" statement on it, but I keep it in my wallet more for medical identification purposes. I am also glad knowing that the serial number of my device is registered so that if there are any problems identified from the manufacturer I would be notified.

So far we are eating out less, so I'm not sure if I'll need it. So far when we have gone out I love the left-overs.

I have one and use it sometimes. Its also useful to keep the info about it handy as well.

I keep mine behind my driver's license, so if I'm in an accident and they're going for my ID they will have no choice but to see the Lap Band card too.

I didn't ask for a card but my doctor gave me one automatically. I have never used it since I don't eat out. If I did eat out I would probably just order an appetizer though. Keep it in my wallet anyway just in case the opportunity arises to use it.

i dont have one but if i did, i prob wouldnt use it. we dont eat out either. when and if we do eat out, it will be an app also.

Huh. Cards? I've got nothing. Haven't tried ordering off a child's menu yet. I've been ordering appetizers or Entrees which I either bring home or send home with my parents.

I received it the week before my surgery. I don't usually have issues finding something to eat. I just box up most of it for later. My 4yr old daughter loves Golden Corral but I hate paying for an adult for me when I know I can't eat enough. I do use my card there so I'm able to still treat my daughter once in awhile.

You know, I should've thought of that! My son loves that place too but I just hate it. I always feel like it's a huge waste of money because I eat such a tiny portion. Next time we go, I'm trying my card there!

I,also, have one, but have never used it either. I am of the over 55 group, and order off that menu a lot. The serving s are smaller there , too. Some restaurants have gone to 1/2 servings, check your menu for that. (it is a least one chain, can't remember which one). The card can be ordered through some of the papers in teh packet you get from you surgeon's office. Karen

PS: I have found that a lot of people in the restaurant industry are being aware of the small amount lapband people eat, so sometimes just ask!

I found some information on that. You should get it from your doctor. I never received one, but I wonder if I will once I'm allowed to eat solids. Here is the link http://www.lapband.com/en/live_healthy_lapband/the_first_weeks/patient_id_card/

Thanks everyone for all of the response. I do remember filling out paperwork for a card in my start up packet back in Dec. Hopefully, I will be receiving mine soon:)

If u ask ur drs office for the card, they will give it ti u. I've only tried to use it once, at {ometown Buffet (cuz im definately a waste of money there) and they wouldn't accept it. I don't usually like what the kids menu has on it. But u can also ask for the senior menu at some restaurants. I luv brining 2/3 of my dinner home. My husband and I usually share my Avo Cobbo salad from Red Robin the next day. So it makes 3 meals.

Just ask ur drs office for 1. I just emailed my nurxe and she sent me 1 in the mail. Its up to the rextaurant whetner tthey will accept the m or not.

Our doctor gave us a card, but it's less for eating out (although you can use it for that) and more for notifying medical staff if you're unconscious or incapacitated so they don't try to stick something down your esophagus and into your stomach without knowing what's going on.

Eating out, I typically get an appetizer. We don't go to buffets typically - too hard to keep track of portions and I've got heebie jeebies about food sitting out under heat lamps. My own little paranoia. :)

I have a card but I always just order off kids menu without the card, no one has ever refused me or questioned it.

Yes I have one but haven't used in years mostly same complaints others have about choices on menus and looks you get. Also off subject but I hate when waitresses see how little I eat and ask "was the good ok?" I have to say "oh yes I just don't eat very much" or "yea I kit wasn't very hungry".

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
