I'm a little frustrated and need some advice before I see the Dr. I got the lapband about a year ago when I weighed 290 I went down to about 50 pounds after my send fill (7 months after surgery) and eventually got a 3rd fill. since then (about 5-6mths) I've gained almost everything back. I found that eating anything is almost impossible without throwing it back up, then only way oto keep things down is to force it through the small amounts through the band with Water, which obviously is a horrbile habit. I can't understand why I've gained everything back even though I don't eat all that much?

I'm going to schedule a Dr. appointment and am considering getting an small amount of the band unfilled (maybe .5 ml?) back to what it was when I lost 50lbs, but I'm nervous that an unfill will make things worse and I will gain even more back. Anyone had this problem, any advise?

I do wathc what I eat and have been excercising more recently but am still confused, its not like i sat around sediment for the last 6 months eating junk forcing it down with milkshakes or something, so I'm confused as to why I would gain everything back!

Please share anything that can help.

Thanks

Sounds like you're too tight. You should be able to eat almost everything without pain or sliming (if you chew it 20 times and take smaller bites), and what the band does is it keeps you feeling full for at least 4 hrs.

I was too tight for a year as well. I resorted to soft foods or forcing it down little by little. The result was an enlarged esophagus. They had to remove my liquid for a month or so... I was taught that the general rule isn't the "restriction" feeling but how long before you get hungry. I'm guessing your doctor will unfill you a little bit so you can eat again, and if you get hungry within 4 hrs, you need a fill and if you don't, you're in your sweet spot. The problem with being too tight, one never really gets full because you are not eating properly. Good luck and listen to your doctor if he advises that you remove a little liquid.< /p>

I agree with Sia. Sounds like you are too tight. You need to be able to eat food and not have to force it through.

You're very welcome. I, too, for the first year or so was very confused. Maybe ask your doctor to check you under fluoroscopy. The barium drink that you swallow should take about 14 secs to exit your upper pouch. When I had it done, I could see the barium just sitting there :( and it didn't pass the whole time I was standing there until he took some Fluid out. I was really tight!

Once you get to where you can eat 4 oz meat and 6 oz vegetables comfortably and not get hungry till 4 hrs or more, you're at your sweet spot! Good luck to you. ((Hugs))

This is my first response so i hope i am doing it right!

I was 6 pounds from my goal then within 6 months and then I seemed to hit a standstill. I put 15 pounds back on in one month. Counting calories, watching carbs, seeing the nutritionist and frustrated beyond belief. And now 30 pounds. I feel like a failure.

I was to tight in April 2012 and it really scared me. They removed all the Fluid. 3 months later I had a fill. Have not been able to find a good point or I am not sure what it is. Some days I can eat all day and other days- 3 bites and I am done.

The hardest part is finding the foods that work. Maybe I am going with to soft of food. The amount of meat and vegetables is the first I have a firm number.
