Mine thinned - and still does if I am not getting enough Protein. Seems like gobs come out in the shower. But I'm lucky and have a lot of it so there was some to spare.

The diameter of my ponytail halved in the first year. But about 6 months in, I started getting little 'baby hair' appearing around my hairline and 4 years out my hair was back to normal.

This is a repost from something I wrote in February

I just wanted to report that my hair IS growing back! Whew!

I was banded June 2012

Started losing hair Sept 2012

A LOT of hair fell out from sept-Nov 2012

*When I say falling out I mean, cleaning hair brush every day, scooping out clumps of hair from shower every day, hair all over sink and bathroom floor, hair all over my clothes and pillow, hair on my car seat, hair on the floor all over the house, and 20-30 strands every time I ran my fingers through my hair. Just all kinds of hair everywhere. All of these things, every day. Normal Hair loss would be a strand here and there, clean brush weekly, a tiny bit in the drain, maybe. For me, the WLS hairloss was easily 20 times the normal hair loss.

1've been having normal hair loss since Deccember.

Feb 2013 I can see hundreds of new hairs, that stand about 1/2 to 1 inch high all over my head. Sometimes it looks funny, sometimes it acts like a root lifter by making my hair poof at the scalp. It is the same color as the rest of my hair.

I started taking bioten in October, but I do not believe it has had any real effect in terms of how fast my hair is growing. Also, since the same thing happened after I gave birth to each of my kiddos, and I was not taking bioten then, I'm concluding that the hair loss/regrowth cycle has simply run it's course.

I hope this encourages any of you who may be concerned about your own hair loss. I think it's somewhat common, it does eventually stop falling out and start growing back. Bioten probalby helps some, but not everyone, but appears to have no ill side effects (but don't rely on me for medical advice, ask your doctor). :)

My experience at almost the six month mark is this...Hairloss started at exactly two months out from surgery.

I started with long beautiful hair!

It increasingly got worse..my scalp hurt..it wld itch..i was afraid to wash my hair...i would go for days because i knew i was gonna lose about 300 hairs each time i washed it...Rapid hairloss!!...over 200 to 300 hairs a day! lasted a good ten to twelve weeks!!..I had many meltdowns and wld cry my eyes out...then it slowed..then it picked back up!...then it slowed...

I finally got up the nerve to go to the hairdresser..i cut about 4inches...i didnt color it. Once i cut it i noticed less shedding...but then it did pick up on some days..my advice dont be scared to get a trim...

Im still shedding alittle each day. No where near that horrifying amount i was experiencing. Im hopeful the worst is over.

Also..i took Biotin..vitamins..nioxin..iron..zinc..shen min....you name it. Im convinced none of it helped stop anything. It has to run its course, period.

Im surviving what i consider the worst side effect from this surgery/process...hang in there if its happening to you...when they say six months..its pretty much on the money.

I also bought hair makeup ..it works great since the front of my scalp thinned considerably...I bought it off the website Soft Surroundings for anyone interested..

Best wishes!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
