Seriously Embarrassed !

Recommended Posts

As if surgery can't come quick enough.... I just sat on and broke the toilet seat in our bathroom! How embarrassing and horrific. Now I have to explain to my hubby why we have to buy another one... Really?? Anyone else out there ever have anything embarrassing like this happen?

Good Grief...

Yes, sat on a coworkers office chair to fix the spreadsheet she was working on, and it collapsed. I hear you.

I have had a number of cracked toilet seats , can't remember who/how they got broken, some toilet seats seem to be made of very thin plastic that is prone to cracking. The worst is if you sit on it again without getting it fixed it can pinch your bum and that is painful!

Oh yeah, I cracked more than one toilet seat before I lost some weight. I also broke a chair at my cousin's house. Then there's the hundreds of chairs I tried to sit in publicly only to find I didn't fit.

Yup...we've all been there. It sucks.

((hugs))

I never cracked a toilet seat but I always install those oak ones anyway. Probably intuition. :D

I stood on my bathroom sink to reach the top of my mirror to clean it and broke it and had to buy and replace a new one (I rent) and fortunately my dad came in and helped me as I have no clue how to replace this (but now I do, lol). Granted you should not stand on the sink, but still :(

You all have made me laugh out loud. I don't want anyone to get hurt, but there's something about seeing someone in that kind of a predicament that just breaks me up. I think I must have a sick sense of humor. I wish there were more postings of crazy things that have happened due to weight issues. Better to laugh at ourselves than cry. You posts have made my night, thank you for that.

I have broken a couple. I started buying some of the extra stoppers and nailed them on. I also started buying seats with metal hinges instead of the plastic junk. I also broke a chair at my mother in laws house. I also brought a wrench to work early one morning to remove the arm rails on my chair when no one was around.

Cracked my toilet seat too. To top it off couldn't get out to buy a replacement for a few days and got goosed several times...it hurts like crazy!

I have broken at least 4 or 5! Lol Now we get the seats with metal hinges.

Once at my in laws house I sat in a chair that I was too small for at the kitchen table and of course broke the arms off of it. This was about 3 months after my father in law talked about how the kitchen table and chairs were antiques Lol. This was also the chair that he always sat in!

Once in high school I sat in a chair and the back legs slowly collapsed and I fell in front of the whole class! Lol even the teacher was trying not to laugh! Lol

I used to wear those chunky heels (wedge shoes) and as I got heavier, I think my ankles got weaker. I can't begin to tell you how many parking lots I face planted in before decided I needed to give them up. The worst two, was at a high school parking lot picking my kids up after a track meet and face planting in the parking lot. My kids were so used to it that as I laid face down they were laughing and so was I. It was humiliating and a woman walked by and scolded my kids for laughing and not helping me up. We told her it happens all the time. So up I got. I also did this in a Bob Evans parking lot after a meal on New Years Day. I fell and had to go back in the restaurant all scraped up and bleeding. The staff was like "what happened"... A coworker (who is heavy as well) was wearing the same type of shoes in our dept and her ankle gave way just standing at the printer and she fell in the middle of our cubes and was so embarrassed. Oh, the joy of being overweight. We won't even talk about the turnstyles I had to squeeze through sideways and pray I wouldn't get stuck... I can laugh at all this now.

So you are sooo not alone.

You are not alone. Funny thing is though that thin people also fall and break things (because they are made faulty) and we blame ourselves that being fat is the reason. And I agree with tiny1234....better to laugh than to cry.

Good luck =)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
