I haven't lost any in 3-4 weeks! I have been eating 1300-1400 calories on days I work out and around 1200 on days I don't. I work out 5 days/ week burning 700-800 calories per workout. I eat 40-60g of Protein a day and drink 4 to 5 16oz bottles of Water per day. This is my second plateau since my surgery on oct. 15, 2012. I went 6 weeks with no loss about 4 weeks ago. I hope this isn't a repeating pattern!! Any suggestions???

I am not a nutritionist but if I were you I would ask yours or the dr what they suggest. I personally do not lose unless I eat 1000 to 1100 calories... Maybe you are the same way? Might be worth a call to the dr to see what he advises.

I am new so I haven't experienced what you are going through. But, at the support group I go to somebody said the when they hit such a hard plateau they kind of start a "do over", meaning they do a liquied diet for a week or so, then mushies, and build back up to regular food. I don't know if anybody else has done it but this is just something I have heard. Good Luck and hope that plateau breaks soon.

Hi Addi,

Honestly, I wish there was a magic answer for this for every time a person posted about hitting a plateau. I like you hit my first plateau in October, 2012 and it lasted for almost 5 weeks before I took action into my own hands. The thing I learned the most is to keep constant track of everything I ate. As my body keeps losing weight some of my nutrients needed to be tweaked as well. Example: My carb intake was between 120-125 a day, I was losing steady until I hit that plateau. Apparently, since my big weight loss my body no longer wanted that much carbs, so I decided to cut that in half and before you know, it kicked start my metabolisim and I began to lose again.

It is going to be through trial and error what works for you, everyone is different and no two bodies lose alike. You have your caloric count/carb count - I also want to add that you could possibly try upping your Protein to 60 and up. (its worth the shot) ?

I know its frustrating, hang in there you will start losing again (hugs)

I wish I could lose also. I have lost 2 lbs in 3 months and workout regularly and stick to 1200 calorie diet. Get all my Protein in and use myfitnesspal to track religiously. Im at a loss for words how depressed I am about this. I have 50 more lbs to go. I have tried to go back to the Protein Drinks then mushies but don't have the willpower I use to have for that. I start out great then by day 4 I want to eat everything in sight. I have no Fluid in my band because I was getting stuck with everything I ate. Not even two to three bites and I was stuck and vomiting all the time. My doctor says if I can lose 4 lbs in 6 weeks that is good. I can't even do that. I have lost 80 lbs so far. I think I will go back to my support groups at my hospital. I think I need it.

I think going back to your support group would be a good idea. Maybe they will have ideas on how to get on a roll again. Have you talked to the nutritionist at your doctors ofice?

I was stuck in a plateau for about 4-5 weeks after a quick 45 pound loss. I tend to eat the same thing day after day if I'm losing, So I switched things up. Also, I think your body has to adjust to a big loss or change then can get kicked back into the losing mode, I just broke 50 lb loss! But had to re-evaluate and change what I was eating, I don't eat any carbs, except rice once a week.

I would agree on lowering your calories. I was pretty good for the first year sticking to 1000 a day. That's when I lost the most. I had upped my calories to 1500 after reaching my goal but then started eating even more over the holidays and gained about 7 back. Now that I cut back to 1000 or less a day, I am down those 7 pounds in the last 9 days.

I think it was Thursday, Dr. Oz did a show on revving up your metabolism. It was very interesting. I just checked the website and if you go to "episodes" you can watch it. It's in a few parts and you have to watch a Walgreens ad every clip but I think it's worth it. The Dr. that was talking about it also has a book out. I cant remember exactly, I'm gonna have to watch it again myself, but she has a plan of several days with different kinds of foods. Most of the tips seemed quite doable. Anyways, have a look if you have time, you might just hear something that hits home.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
