I slept in my bed the same night. i'm also a tummy sleeper, so it was hard... but I bought a long body pillow at Walmart for 9$ and all was good!! I slept in my side with the pillow proped under my stomach and in between my legs. After about 4 days I was slowely starting to lay on my stomach again :)

you'll do great!

When I first slept on my side I also used a pillow to prop up my stomach a bit. I swear I felt like a pregnant woman! :-D

So you mean to tell you you slept on your stomach the very first night after your surgery?? I am ecstatic to hear about this as I have never slept a night on my back as I am a stomach sleeper!! I will have to try this trick!

Yes, the very first night. I've had 3 hernia surgeries and the Lap Band since learning this trick and I've slept on my tummy doing this since the very first night after all surgeries.

Just go very slowly when you do it and don't rock or lean as you're lowering yourself. This way you're not pulling at your tummy at all.

Good luck! :)

So, do you need to put anything down on the bed in case of fluids spilling or is everything pretty clean after surgery? I'm trying to plan out the bed stuff now so that my hubby doesn't have to work about it when I get home that day . Thank you again everyone for the response's

I didn't have any leaking after the Lap Band surgery, however it is possible. I always put down an old towel for the first week after surgery. This way if I do leak out an incision, it only ruins the towel not the sheet or mattress.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
