goalseeker 695 Posted February 9, 2013 Before I started this journey I couldn't run ONE mile without stopping and feeling like my heart was about to explode. This morning I ran 3.25 miles without stopping and even felt like I could go further. I averaged a 10:55 min mile which excites me even though its still pretty slow. The frustrating part is I get three different numbers for calories burned. The heart rate monitor says 400, the my fitness pal app says 480 and mapmyrun says 720???? I decided to go conservative in my journaling so I don't accidentally over eat....but WTH?!! The difference is nuts. 5 Terry Poperszky, DebbieC1970, MiniMi and 2 others reacted to this

MiniMi 1,468 Posted February 9, 2013 running usually doesn't "burn" very many calories but the results in wl and size is like no other. Keep up the good work.
B-52 7,113 Posted February 10, 2013 I have not lost any weight in over a year now.....but since I started running...5 miles per day, 5 days a week....I dropped 2 clothing sizes..... I had someone say to me "You're a runner, right? I can tell..." All all the exercises one can do....running is the best for burning calories and and toning up he body...including loose skin.. LJCBF 363 Posted February 14, 2013 This is inspiring and awesome! Thanks for posting this - really cool : ) HR monitor is usually the most accurate on cal count - FYI. Also, sub 11 pace for over 3 miles isn't slow where I come from : ) So when do you SIGN UP FOR A RACE ?? 5K or 10K ? Lee
goalseeker 695 Posted February 14, 2013 Omg!!!!! Awesome!!! How long did it take for you to achieve this? Did you use any special programs like couch25k I did start with c25k about 4 mo after surgery. I am doing that and insanity. I made it to about week 4 or 5 of C25k and decided to go for it. I tried running 3 miles without stopping and could do it. It wasn't quick but I did it.

Otherwise I'm not gonna pay to run lol if rather spend my money in new clothes
LJCBF 363 Posted February 15, 2013 I might sign up for a zombie 5k if I can find friends to do it with. Otherwise I'm not gonna pay to run lol if rather spend my money in new clothes <img src='http://www.bariatricpal.com/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/wink.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' /> I hope you some friends step up and do it with you ! For me races aren't really about "running" what I really pay for is the accountability and motivation having a "race" looming affords me... Increasing the intensity level of my training - plus I get a real emotional bump from the event and the accomplishment - it helps me also by re- training myself to look for "reward" in areas other than "food - restaurants etc..." I also love buying new clothes ! Lee
