Medifast Commercials

Recommended Posts

Ok, is it just me? I cannot stand the new medifast "conversations with yourself" commercials. They feature a series of different people as "before and after", but they project it differently.

They feature the "before self" behaving emotionally at the success they had with medifast, and then the feature the "after self" thanking themselves for going with medifast but they are in the same room, 8 months apart and spliced together.

I hate these commercials because it makes it all seem so phony. A woman standing there and talking to herself about the success she had before she even had it! And she's crying about it!

Maybe I'm just jaded but it just leaves a sour taste in my mouth. Thoughts?

Hate 'em. This probably sounds crazy but I think "new me" is kind of sanctimonious.

I haven't seen them - I will have to pay closer attention! I did medifast before the band and lost 25lbs in 4 weeks. I was surprised - I wasn't hungry after the first few days. The problem was I put all the weight back on and then some after I did it for four weeks. :(

Those commercials bother me too. Just creepy, sappy BS.

I know someone who did it and did great but she didn't have a lot to lose. Also they put her on a ridiculous low calorie diet even less then any of us eat.

I don't mind the product, I'm sure it works, but I just can't stand the commercials behind it.

I hate them, not just because they're creepy, but it goes to show how planned the whole thing it was. It was like "yeah we're going to hire a fat actress and do whatever necessary to get her to lose weight for our commercial".

You better believe they don't care if they maintain that weight loss or not, either!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
