As far as yogurt goes, I don't eat Greek but I love Carbmaster yogurt from Ralphs or Kroger brand because they are lower in calories. But you need more calories so pick up a few and see what you like. I did Oikos for awhile. I love Pure Protein Bars, you should be able to find them anywhere. For Salad Dressing I like Kraft Light Done Right or any light raspberry vinegarette

High calorie foods that are good for you if you like them are Peanut Butter, cheese and avocados. Can also make Protein smoothies with a scoop of Protein Powder to drink as Snacks if you're trying to get some extra calories in.

my nutritionist is basically useless. thank you both for all the ideas. my doctor wants me to lose 2 pounds a week and with that being said, he said 1580 is appropriate for that amount of weight loss

My weight loss was 1-2 pounds a week at 1100-1200 calories a day.

One of my favorite Snacks is 1/2 cup of plain or vanilla greek yogurt with 1 tablespoon of creamy Peanut Butter. Tastes like the center of a Reese Peanut Butter cup. (about 150 calories & 14g of protein) Also read through the food & nutrition forum there are a lot of great food ideas there.

I love Quest cinnamon roll Protein bars. 20g of protein and 170Cal, they r amazing. Pb and apple slices, try recipes from Emily Bites. Go lean crunch mixed in yogurt, nuts, and get some healthy fats in by using a good Salad Dressing. I'm Happysim1990 on myfitnesspal. Best of luck! :)

Wow...that sounds high...

On one hand the band is designed, just as any traditional diets do, designed to get us to eat less....overeating is why we are fat.....

Then your Dr wants you to eat more...for me it would be eating AGAINST the band....

But it's your Dr. and to make things work you need to follow his/her plan......

For me, my Dr. NEVER preached to me about calories...just concentrate on Protein and Water.....and that's still all I ever do....and it worked just fine...

Eat more to loose weight.....I know there is truth in there somewhere...it just rubs against MY common sense....but that's just me....I have always found that when I wanted to loose weight it was always about eating less....

You can also eat lunch meat, cheese, cottage cheese, greek yogurt, Protein bars (but you have to watch the calories and the sugar) I use pure protein. 3 ounces of chicken will give you 22 grams of protein. Seems you need to eat every couple of hours instead of just three times a day. I still eat every couple hours and it works for me. Boiled eggs are another good one. If you cant eat the yolk eat the outside, I also use laughing cow cheese on some pretzel crisps, hummus, there are so many options. I use spark people only because they have good recipes and other things that are valuable to me. I have myfitnesspal but I dont use it. I hope I have given you some good ideas. Also if your still trying to lose the whole concept is to burn more calories then you consume. If you are not burning the calories through exercise then that many calories will not make you lose weight.

Just an idea. I started to add a scoop of unflavored Protein powder and a little bit of Special K Protein Cereal to my Greek yogurt in the morning. Boosts up my calories and protein and keeps me fuller longer. I do have to add a splash of almond milk to thin it out a little.

Good luck.

Whomever said that their nutritionist was useles..... Well, so is mine! I just had a near argument with the woman on the phone yesterday over calories. I have beean eating about 1500 calories per day for about 9 months now. I stopped losing on that amount about 5 months ago. I have only been banded for 9 months, so when this woman told me to never go below 1500 I was stunned! She told me that her "calculations" say my lower limit is 1250, but she doesn't want me below 1500. It makes no sense to me beause I am not losing. I tried to explain to her that if I could go for more than 2 hours without getting hungry that it would be really easy for me to eat 1200-1300 calories per day, but that I think I need a fill. I am not after "restriction". I am after that "satiety" bull **** they keep telling me about (excuse me for that). I know how it feels because I have had that feeling after a few fills. It just doesn't last for long. My doctor only does fills in .1cc amounts, so it is taking me forever to make it more than about 2 hours without my stomach growling at me. When this women told me that maybe it is just my body and that maybe I just won't lose any more weight....I got SUPER mad at her. Needless to say..... I'm going to go for fewer calories and keep getting fills every 4 weeks until I can make it for more than 2 hours between meals. What a dumb-#%*€.....

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
