I think there are only two of us on this board who were "switched" after--actually at the time of--dis-banding.

I was dieting afterwards, but now I'm struggling and shoving way too much pie into the hole. My belly hurts. Yes, I'm quite worried. It's no different than pouch packing or shoving too much food down the chute after bypass. I think my band removal left me with a tiny pouch that I tore to shreds the other day. Fairwell cruel world, I don't feel so well. Poop.

I started NutriSystem last Friday - so far I have lost 6 lbs and have been 100% on program, but it's soooooo hard! I'm just taking it 1 day at a time. Actually, 1 meal at a time.

I worry all the time about the weight coming back. I miss food. At least with the band I could eat whatever, just in small amounts and not every day. It wasn't a constant no-no. For me, when I am on a diet program I can not make even 1 mistake because that will put me in "binge mode".

So far so good - we'll see how long it lasts.....this time.

I'm so glad you all have shared your struggles. I'm having a really had time. My band was removed in February and I've gained a lot of weight back. I'm really frustrated and I'm really struggling. This is really lonely and I think it's even more difficult now.

Sigh.

Tuff Enuff,

You're DEFINITELY not alone. I'm so sorry for your struggles. Penni is the one who told me about NutriSystem. She really likes it and so far so good for me, too. It does work, but....

I hear you, I know if I stuck with the Sanoma diet it would work and I would probably feel so much better physically. Just being stubborn I guess. For some reason I can't seem to get myself on track and it's something I really must do if I'm going to have any type of decent health whatsoever.

One hour at a time is the best I can seem to accomplish lately.

Wish me luck, here's wishing you the best of luck with your endeavor!

It's a comfort knowing other people are going through the same thing I am. Struggle is a weak word for trying not to eat. I'm losing the struggle.I want to be re-banded but the Dr. I went to no longer does it due to insurance issues. I don't know if another Dr. would do it. I don't know if the insurance would pay for it. It's so frustrating. Thank you all for being there.

I'm so sorry you all are having such problems. May I ask a question? Why did you have your band removed? Were there problems with it? I just had the band put in last week and I'm reading all this stuff and I'm getting scared that I' m going to mess up the band or not eat right or who knows what else.

Kelly,

There are some of us who lost out bands due to slippage and those whose bands eroded. My band slipped and my dr was unable to fix it due to adhesions. I may end up getting rebanded in 6 months depending on how well I can do without the band. So far I'm doing ok - not good - but ok.

Time will tell.

Don't worry. Most people don't have these problems. Listen to your doctor's instructions, do your best and the rest is up to chance. My one word of caution is to make sure you don't get too tight. It's far better to take it slow and easy when it comes to fills/restriction.

I hope your band journey is long and that you do as well as so many others on LBT. Don't take a day with your band for granted. Make each day count and lose as much as you can - just in case. Good luck to you!

Don't stress! Mine slipped, I am one of the percentage that had swelling inside after surgery and wound up almost three weeks vomiting up my own saliva at the outset (dehydration, iv's, etc.). My band was never loose and I believe in some ways that contributed to the eventual slippage. (Dr says no but.....) I had to have it removed rather than repaired due to costs. I'm self pay and have had to fund two surgeries in eight months..... pretty much broke. I was also petrified I would swell again and go through the initial three weeks again with internal swelling....the slippage caused same problems as first three weeks. I was five days not even able to do fluids by the time I had it removed.

I'm the percentage they warn about, it really bites being the percentage.

I would say if you don't have any problems like the vast majority of bandsters and you are careful not to stuff your pouch or eat stuff that gets stuck that you will probably have not problems whatsoever.

Wishing you the best of luck.

I was in the hospital twice for dehydration. I held off getting the band taken out to the last minute, it ended up emergency surgery and I begged the doctor to try to save it. He said he could'nt. He stopped doing the band surgery because of insurance issues. Now I'm trying everything and anything. I've sent the paper work in to Albany Med requesting to be rebanded there :) but have'nt heard from them yet. I pray they will do it again.

Hi,

I had my band removed in Jan.2006 due to it erdoding. I asked the Dr. that removed it not the same one that placed it if he would place another band and he said he would have to think about it he thought that there might be to much scare tissue to replace it. He said I probably should have the G-bypass. For now Iam taking Effexor and Phentermine together to help with hunger it seems to really help. Now if I can just not eat when Iam not hunger!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
