Hey everyone.

I got banded in July. By the time it was August, I had lost 20 pounds. I was 235 lbs.

I went for a fill in September and they said I gained 5 pounds. Now I was 220.

I went back in November for a fill again then they said my weight was the same - 220.

I went back in January and I was the same weight yet again - 220.

I went in today and I'm the same damn weight - 220.

Why am I not losing weight?

I am doing my best with eating right. I do go to the gym ... I just don't get it.

The doctor says I need a few more adjustments before I can really lose weight. He promised that I'll lose weight as long as I keep eating right and exercising.

Does anyone have tips? Is it true that you can not be losing or gaining weight? I'm just stressed out over this. :(

And from December to now - I feel extremely hungry. I just got a fill today and I feel like I could eat everything in sight. :(

How many cc's has he put in? Is he putting them in or are you gong through the creepy process of sitting with a needle in your belly and drinking Water? Lol how often are you eating? How much Protein are you putting in? Please don't be discouraged! It will happen!!

He doesnt tell me how many cc's ... :(

He injects me ... and then gives me Water ... then tells me if it went down. The first time I went I felt full quick. Now I haven;t felt that way ... he said to give it time.

I eat 3 meals. I recently cut coffee out because I think that might be what is in my way from losing weight.

When will it happen tho ... I feel soooooo discouraged and everyone around me keeps asking when I'll lose weight.

Sorry you are struggling with losing. I think you really need to track what you are eating. Are you sticking to no more than 1 cup of food per meal? I was too tight a while back had some Fluid taken out, then still having major issues the last couple weeks and I think got a complete unfill (he didn't tell me how much he took out as he didn't want me stressing about it). I know that I can eat most anything right now, but I am be very cautious to stick to the 1 cup of food and keeping my calories around 1000 per day. A lot of times, we may think we are doing all the right things and until we keep an actual food diary or log it using myfitnesspal or something comparable, we may be very surprised how much we actually are taking in. Lastly, are you getting in at least 60 grams of Protein per day? I find if I am not getting enough, my weight loss stalls.

Best wishes to you to get the scale moving (in the right direction) again. :)

I notice you say you are very hungry. Are you getting 3-4 ounces of solid Protein in at the beginning of each meal? That will keep you from being hungry. Also, you may need to really think about whether you are physically hungry or if it's head hunger.... Head hunger will get better if you don't give in. ;-)

Did you get much info when you were banded or prebanding? It may just be a matter of learning how to eat better so you aren't struggling so much.

I think some modifications to your diet will help the "stall". It is normal from time to time but you can get it moving I feel w/ some changes. ;-)

Also, as for the fill, for me and some others I have seen sometimes the fill doesn't kick in right away. I noticed about 2 weeks later that I really felt more restriction.

Hmm that's interesting cause my other fill I felt restriction right away ... this time I didn't.

I did get info and a diet plan but I admit there were times where I ate bad foods .... but I'm just depressed over the fact that I'm dumping money into this and its not working. I mean I haven;t lost a pound since August. : (

Try not to get discouraged. While the band does do a lot of the work, we still have to do our part too. I urge you to keep a food diary, or better yet use the loseit app or my fitness pal so you can monitor the Protein and calories you are taking in. Heck, maybe you are taking in too few calories... who knows. Until you can see what is going in your body in #s you won't know what needs to change or how much. If you have junk in the house, get it out. I crave things from time to time and not having them on hand makes it much easier (ie. chips). I find other things to take their place that still satisfy me. Or instead of having a candy bar, I have a hershey kiss (or 2) and am done w/ it. You can do this. :)

YES, YES, YES! The plateaus are frustrating, but as long as I don't gain, I'm still ahead. Everyone will have times that they just "flatline" and even gain. Talking to a nutritionist didnt tell me anymore than I already knew from 30 years of going on every diet ever heard of.

If you are going to the gym maybe you are gaining muscle and it feels like you are not losing due to the scale.

i agree with this. although that pesky scale does not move (or is moving at a snails pace), it is working. i go by how loose my clothes are or are they getting to big that i def need to buy new underwear :)

just stay with it...keep eating the proteins/veggies/fruit/drink alot and exercise. it will work and it will show...even if you dont think it is..

Losing weight is simple math. Burn more calories than you consume and you lose weight. If you're not tracking calories and not exercising a lot you may not lose.

If you're not satisfied with a small meal(lapband friendly), and you don't feel restriction, the band is not working it's magic. You need to find the green zone for this to work for you. Otherwise you're just on another diet.

Here are a couple of calorie calculators to estimate what you need per day to lose weight:

http://caloriecount.about.com/cc/calories-goal.php

http://walking.about.com/cs/calories/l/blcalcalc.htm

http://www.primusweb.com/fitnesspartner/calculat.htm

Keep seeing your doc and get filled till you find the green zone or you may just stay on a diet the rest of your life? And we all know how well we did on diets right?

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
