buckeyegirl4 19 Posted February 6, 2013 I've noticed that many are posting that they had their hiatal hernias repaired at the time of their banding. Is there a theme here? Does that increase the cost of the procedure? I was told last year that I have one too. I would imagine that "when" I get banded, mine will be repaired at that time. Just curious
mbmoore2518 42 Posted February 7, 2013 It doubled the cost of my surgery, but I feel so much better. I had really bad acid reflux and it completely fixed it. Definitely get it all done at once if you can. 2 VsBucketList and buckeyegirl4 reacted to this
2012 359 Posted February 7, 2013 Mine was included with the surgery cost and I had to sign a release that I would allow him to do this while he was in there once he found it. I had no clue I had one, so I'm glad he automatically does this.
buckeyegirl4 19 Posted February 7, 2013 Do you think there is some irony there? Or is there some correlation between obesity and hiatal hernias? I was told mine was stress related. I am not so sure after reading that it is so common here.
mbmoore2518 42 Posted February 7, 2013 I was told it was related to stress, being overweight, and also that just being female made you more likely to get this type of hernia. 1 buckeyegirl4 reacted to this
stephanieg89 8 Posted February 7, 2013 It is the only way my insurance will cover the surgery is if I do have it, otherwise I have to pay for the full surgery. 1 buckeyegirl4 reacted to this
Terry Poperszky 2,784 Posted February 7, 2013 My surgeon threw it it in with the cost of my surgery. I haven't taken reflux medicine since. Love it. 1 buckeyegirl4 reacted to this
