stuck in a Plateau

Recommended Posts

Help!!!! I am stuck in a plateau, I have not lost any weight in 6 weeks. Been eating approximately 1200 calories a day and getting over 65 grams of Protein. I walk approximately 2.5 miles a day 5 days a week, and alternate leg and arm exercise at the gym 5 days a week. I drink at least least 80 oz of Water a day. Any suggestion of what I can be doing to lose weight?

Thanks

Normally you would do weights 3 days a week, with rest day between workouts. My doctor wants at least 30 minutes cardio 7 days a week.

You might want to mix up your diet. Try eating 1400 a day for a few days and then 800 for a few days. Sometimes our bodies go into a starvation mode and slows down the metabolism. You need to trick the body out of that mode and eating more calories might do that. Change up your exercise routine too. Maybe try elliptical, stair climbers or recumbent bikes instead of walking a few days a week. Walking is good but if you can work your muscles more you might ramp up your metabolism.

Hi and congrats on what sounds like a consistent strategy with lots of effort : ) those two items puts you on the path to Victory! I suggest you purchase and use a heart rate monitor. The polar is a good brand and works with many treadmills and ellipticals as an added bonus. The FT 7 is a great choice and $78 on Amazon.

The REASON you want one is because it will help you know the INTENSITY level at which you are working - this is critical not only to the weight loss of the workout session but to how it moves your metabolic rate and calorie "burn" through the day when not working out. It will also help keep you safe - so you don't push past the point you should, as ULTIMATELY the race goes to the tortoise not the hare - consistency will always win out. But there is no reason not to maximize your time by taking advantage of HR training : )

Knowing the best tools and techniques - especially for obese people to workout is key.... After all, you can dig a hole with a screw driver but it goes lots faster with a shovel : )

Polar H7(bluetooth version) is awesome. I use it with my Iphone. I downloaded the polar app but I find the cyclemeter app to be much easier to read. They're both cheap to free. Yes, knowing your heart rate is critical if you want to push your limits and get the best workout possible.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
