AnnetteT 77 Posted February 5, 2013 I have damaged my port area and need to have port revision. The surgeon will move it to my right side and down lower. This was discovered on my first visit with a new surgeon. There hasn't been time for them to go over what to expect after surgery...the nurse said he would go over everything tomorrow morning before the operation. I'm hoping someone reading this might have had this procedure. Do you go back on liquids then soft foods like after the initial lapband? How was your recovery time compared to the lapband placement? I know I need to discuss this with my dr and I will do that tomorrow morning, but I really want to get prepared if I need stuff to go back on full liquids. Thanks! acoleman380 23 Posted February 5, 2013 I havent had this experience but i just wanted to wish you luck. I wouldnt think you had to go back on liquids like the original surgery because its just your port thats being replaced and not the actual band but im not 100% sure. Be sure and ask your doctor tomorrow
Maddysgram 6,159 Posted February 5, 2013 I just had it 2wks ago. My port flipped completely over. My Dr said I'm only the second one after hundreds of surgeries he has done. I'm so special, lol Any ways, this surgery is much easier than the original surgery. You don't have the chest and gas pressure , as with LBS. They also give you pain meds that work well on incision sting. I had to do 24hrs of liquid b/c I also had a 1.5cc fill at time of revision. Needless to say, I'm being very careful not to lift anything to heavy this time. Oh, another thing, didn't have to have to be intubated(?) air tube down my throat and they used local and different sleep meds than LBS. My daughter met me after surgery and said "you look great for someone who just had surgery" and I did feel good, not the WTH did I do to myself after LB! Good Luck, you'll be fine!
