Banana2363 21 Posted February 5, 2013 So my NUT said she does not want me counting calories. That made my jaw drop! Maybe I am old school, but I thought that was to help me loose weight. I am in shock. Are you counting calories?
Terry Poperszky 2,784 Posted February 5, 2013 Yes. My NUT doesn't want me to focus on it, but I still log everything i eat.
Maddysgram 6,159 Posted February 5, 2013 Yes, until I get the hang of things I weigh, measure and log everything. I'm hoping after breaking old habits and practicing new ones, that one day counting calories won't be necessary. But for right now, its a must for me. We have to do what works for us. FLORIDAYS 3,040 Posted February 5, 2013 My dr said its imperative to track calories and measure out the proper portions. Honestly during the losing stage I do not feel I would have been as successfull if I hadn't... But that's just my opinion...certainly not dismissing what your NUT or dr recommends. I just think I would have been way more tempted to eat stuff I shouldnt had I not done it that way.
DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! 12,703 Posted February 5, 2013 I also count calories and am encouraged to do so by both my surgeon and my nutritionist. I know I wouldn't have lost even half the weight I have if I didn't count calories. It would just be way too easy to over-eat. Even if my nutritionist said not to count calories, I still would. The reason being- we all have to do what's best for us. Some people don't need to count calories (though they are definitely the minority). I know I must count calories if I'm going to lose successfully. You have to do what's best for you.
