ErinSue2000 48 Posted February 4, 2013 How do you know if your liver is losing fat?
DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! 12,703 Posted February 4, 2013 You don't. There is no way to tell until the surgeon goes in and sees it. That's why on occasion people will get put out expecting to be banded and wake up with incisions but no band, because the surgeon got inside and saw the liver was too big to safely work around so he immediately closed them back up. It's a good example why it's so important to follow the pre-op diet if you're put on one. 1 ☠carolinagirl☠ reacted to this
CHEZNOEL 4,061 Posted February 5, 2013 Just follow the pre-op and leave the rest to your surgeon. 1 ☠carolinagirl☠ reacted to this
☠carolinagirl☠ 18,721 Posted February 5, 2013 like mis when the dr goes inside, he will know...that is why its important to follow the pre op diet rules...my dr said if he went inside, and my liver wasnt shrunk enough, he wouldnt do the surgery. that right there scared me enough to make sure i followed the rules. ErinSue2000 48 Posted February 5, 2013 I have lost some pounds like 14 so hopefully I have lost some fat around my liver! My bmi is 40 so let's home!
2muchfun 8,927 Posted February 5, 2013 I don't think it's the fat they're concerned with? It's that your body stores a lot of Water if you're eating lots of carbs and fatty foods. They want the liver to shred the excess fluids the liver is retaining. 1 knitmom reacted to this
blondegal_ 1,028 Posted February 5, 2013 I thought it was a fatty liver. Not surrounding. Along the lines of feeding ducks a certain diet so their livers are fatter to make pâté. And can it be checked with blood tests?
