DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! 12,703 Posted February 4, 2013 It's very common, especially after surgery. Banded tummies tend to be loud anyway so it takes some adjustment to stop associated "growling" with hunger. Now that you're banded, that's not necessarily the case. When you're physically hungry, you'll know it. It just takes awhile to get used to all the changes. Best wishes.
dolphintattoo 96 Posted February 4, 2013 I was banded 1/31 ad have had a hard time telling hunger from pain from naseau but have found sticking to the diet (eating or drinking liquids every few hours) is helping.
line-dancer 810 Posted February 4, 2013 this is just a healing time you have no restriction yet. The band is not working for your yet. The noise you hear we all o aftr surgery the tummy, colon, instistine all are recovering. just rest and heal the work starts in 4-6 wks so learn to sip and eat very very slowly. 1 kll724 reacted to this

hoobiedew 1 Posted February 4, 2013 I was banded Jan 31 and was great the first 2 days, but after taking off the anti nausea patch, I have been miserable and horribly nauseous for the last 2 days. My surgeon is having me do another barium swallow in the morning to check the band. I pray everything is ok.
kazjim98 618 Posted February 4, 2013 I have to take anti-nausea meds with narcotic pain killers... .if you are still on the pain meds it could be the reason you are nauseous now. Good to know you are seeing your doctor tomorrow, as it's always best to check with them. Best Wishes!
dolphintattoo 96 Posted February 5, 2013 after a consult with my doc over the phone today, he had me take a few bites of soupy mashed potatoes. It completely did the trick, my stomach is no longer getting angry and cramping up. I was having really bad bouts of the big D after every single liquid I ingested, he said to take Immodium and eat oatmeal or mashed potatoes (soupy in both cases) and so far I am feeling full, but not uncomfortable and no more gnawing pain or nausea. Jewelsm1127 351 Posted February 5, 2013 My stomach growls and gurgles AFTER I eat. So I know it's not hunger. I chalked it off to digestion. Drinking Water makes it gurgle too sometimes. Initially I had to really stop and think to figure out whether I was hungry or not. And 9 times out of 10 I wasn't. Like the others said...you will know when you're hungry. I get irritable and such which is what tips me off. Plus I keep track of the time I last ate...if it was 4-5 hours ago I know it's time to eat again.
pinkkwolff 2 Posted February 5, 2013 Thanks for all the info! I need to do a better job of tracking when I drink/eat. I'm gonna do that and hopefully in time ill figure out my new belly =P
futureshrink 45 Posted February 5, 2013 Ironically, since my band, I am never ever hungry...it's crazy. Often I get low blood sugar and dizzy as a sign I haven't eaten enough.
