I just tried the Unjury shake and i dont like it. It reminds me of the shakes i used when i did the Optifast diet. It leaves a bad taste in your mouth. Can anyone recommend a coupe of others i could try? Sara

Bummer.... Unjury is my favorite all the others were AWEFUL to me! I've learned that everyone can suggest a brand and flavor, but it comes down to everyone's taste buds ;) order lots of samples and try them all!!! My fav right now is Nectar's Double stuff cookie yummmmmo

There are several good ones available at Vitamin Shoppe:

For just a Protein Shake, Myofusion is probably one of the best tasting with lots of great flavor options and a solid profile. For more of a Meal Replacement I like LeanPro8, very good profile with healthy fats. vanilla, chocolate, and strawberry are all very good. I have heard good things about Syntrax Nectars but I have never tried them. Good thing about Vitamin Shoppe, if you do not like it bring it back and they will let you exchange it.

Dont be afraid of fats with Protein Shakes. They are usually high quality, omega3/6 and/or medium-chained glycerides. You need these especially since many essential Vitamins are fat solubile, meaning they are better absorbed when consumed with fats. You do not want sugar, but that is easy to avoid because most have very low sugar content.

I'm not crazy about any of the shakes so I add flavor to them.

vanilla shake: add a squirt of orange mio for a orange creamcycle taste. Or strawberry mio is good on it as well.

I add frozen berries and a little Trop50 orange juice to the unflavored mixes.

There's a lot you can do to add flavor.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
