Superbowl junk food and pre-op diet

Recommended Posts

If my husband would have thought it was funny, I would have turned the joke on him! I would have left the house and went to the most expensive store and bought myself the most awesome incentive outfit that anyone has ever seen! I would have waltzed into the room, hung it up in the middle of the party and with a huge smile, hand the receipt to my husband in front of them all! Then thank your husband and his friends for their encouragement!

I knew i like you for a reason!! LOVE that idea!!! ^5

I spent the entire winter holidays ...thanksgiving to new years on liquid. Between the pre and post op liquids. It was no fun but I dealt with it.... And today I am attending my 3 rd super bowl party since being banded 25 months ago ......221 lbs lighter in my size 6 jeans.

Hang in there..Keep your eye on the prize!!!! It is so worth it!

I am on day three is real hard! I am so hungrey and tonight is a family dinner omg this is so hard eye on the prize! I also have the shakes like crazy which no matter how many how much chicken broth or protien shakes or Jello I have! I want to cry!

For me it was day five before I stopped the shakes and headaches......and somewhere along the line I lost my desire for food ..... Hang in there...it gets better. Nothing tastes as good as thin feels!!!

You'll have the last laugh next year when you're all slim and sexy and they're standing there with their beer bellies hanging out. Then you'll see who is the most fit.

And yes, your son is a super hero and deserves a special treat of some sort.

Hang in there, it is worth it!

Hello all. I'm on day 5 of my pre op Optifast liquids and we're getting ready to go to friends for a Super Bowl party. I will take my Jello and Popsicle but this is my first tough day. Reading your success stories really helps!!

My mental hunger and the jerks that are ribbing me will not defeat my purpose. It smells good but I have been sucking down broth until I am floating (who knew that would work). My son is my hero today - hubby, not so much.

Next year I think I will actually take my son to the superbowl and make hubby stay home with the rest of the kids. Yeah that sounds like the perfect plan. Or maybe a cruise, where I can actually wear a swimsuit in February.

Thank you all for the words of encouragement and faith in me. Love the cheer squad that we have on here.

Just think of this accomplishment. It is an accomplishment when you can dodge that all mighty junk food bullet. You did the right thing and you will be fine.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
