fill gone in two weeks

Recommended Posts

Hello is there anybody that can help me. I just had my first fill 3 weeks ago and at first I had restriction well for the first 2 weeks. And now this whole week I been eating normal like I never had a fill put in. I'm loosing weight about 2 lbs a week. Should I even call my doctor to get another fill. Or just keep going. How long should I wait in between fills. Right now the doctor put 2.6cc and I guess it's gone. Has this happened to anybody.

PLease help. THank

Mel

Yes mam that is a normal occurance. 6 weeks is the usually number between fills. Your restriction may come back when you don't expect it. So be careful and keep eating like you were with restriciton.

To quote someone else, "the band is a fickle bitch".

While it seems impossible for the amount of restriction to vary, we hear a lot of reports just like yours. I'm sure the amount of saline in your band is the same as it was when you were filled, unless you've sprung a leak. The next time you're filled your doctor will pull out the existing fill to measure the content. He will know if any has escaped. Assuming you don't have a leak, I believe that the stomach is also a fickle bitch! *chuckles* We retain Water, bloat with gas, etc. and all of those things could contribute to the increase or decrease in the way we preceive the restriction.

I've had one fill, two months ago, and I have had days when I felt like I could eat and eat and eat. But the reality is, I can not. We may think we are eating like normal, but if you are keeping a food journal you will find that you aren't eating anywhere close to what your old normal was. It's a head game. If you are losing 2 pounds per week, you are right on target for the healthy average weight loss of a bandster. So that shouldn't warrant more fill. If you are eating according to the bandster rules (eating a minimum of 60 grams of Protein per day, eat Protein first then your veggies, no liquid calories, taking your daily Vitamins and Calcium suppliments, and drinking a min. of 64oz of Water per day - do NOT drink with meals) and you are hungry all of the time, then you might need a fill.

Frankly, I am very cautious about running to get a tighter fill when I have a few days of feeling hungry. I want to avoid being too tight which brings on the PBs and could cause slippage or erosion. I figure I want to be normal. And in my pre-band life, there were days when I was hungrier than other days. I think its just a normal thing and nothing to worry over unless you stop losing or begin to gain weight.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
