First, you're being way too hard on yourself. If you lost 4 pounds last month that's a pound a week! The average is 1-2 pounds a week so you're doing very well. Plus you have to remember, the less you have to lose the slower it's going to come off. It's frustrating but true. When I was over 400 pounds, I was dropping 20-30 pounds a month. Now that I've lost 185 pounds, I'm lucky to lose 6 or 7 pounds in a month.

Remember, any loss is a success!

As for diet, mine is very simple. I eat between 1000-1200 calories a day, a minimum of 60g of Protein daily, and no more than 20-25% fat daily. I don't do the whole low carb thing like so many do. I just don't think it's at all realistic long term. However, I do try to eat healthy carbs. For instance, I won't buy carbs that are white or have the words "enriched" or "bleached" on the label. That's all just a fancy way of saying "processed junk". I buy brown rice, whole wheat bread, and whole grain Pasta.

Best wishes to you and stop being so hard on yourself :)

You don't want to lose weight quickly. The whole point of the band is to keep the weight off and the only way to do this is to lose it slow. We all want fast weight loss but in all reality if you lose it fast you will gain it back. Slow and steady wins the race.

33 lbs in 4 months is avg of 2 lbs per week...just look at this way, if you can keep up that average, you will have lost over a hundred pounds in a year. slow and steady wins the race right?

I agree... we all lose weight differently. You are not gaining and that is the victory!

4 pounds lost is better than any gain. id take it...that being said, just because the scale is not moving as quick as you like, i bet you are losing inches and your clothes are getting too big..that to me means success...we all lose 1/4 pound at a time..the same as we gained it...continue doing what you are doing as it it working.

I'm feeling the same way, but all those that commented are correct.

I have lost 30 lbs, for me that's over 4 pounds a week. But I guess we always want more.

I have completely stayed away from carbs, they are like an addiction to me. If I eat some, it will lead to more.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
