Unfortunately you'll hear a lot of various answers on this.

As for myself, I don't necessarily time it. I take a small bite, I put my fork down, and I don't touch my fork again until I've swallowed the food completely and successfully. It's the "rule" my nutritionist taught me before being banded and it's always worked very well for me.

I don't pay attention to how much time I wait between bite. I don't set my fork down because I've always been in the habit of moving food around on my plate between bites even before the band. However, I will not eat if I'm being distracted by something else or in a hurry! When I eat, that's my only job at the moment! It's funny how I have learned to actually enjoy the flavors of food and I actually like foods I never ate before! I think I enjoy food more now, but am less obsessed with the quantity!

I don't really do anything different post band other than I'm more aware of my next bite rather than shoveling my food down before I'm done swallowing what I already have in my mouth. I seldom get stuck and when I do its due to old habits.

There is a point where you can eat too slow. I was told my meals should take 20-30 minutes. Not sure what others were told. Eventually you will figure out what works for you.

I only eat slower I dont put my fork down. I just make sure my food is chewed and it has went down. I cant say that I time myself in between bites because I dont. If I feel like it went down then I take another bite.

After a while you will learn what it feels like once the bite has comfortably gone down. This is what you should be looking for before you take the next bite. Piling 1 bite on top of another will get you into trouble.

This is a really bad habit for me, so right now I use chopsticks and an phone app called "eat slower" depending on what I am eating, I go 1 minute between bites, with 30 seconds of chewing time. Although with the chopsticks Soup is a real pain.

My band tells me when to slow down, and also put the fork down and give it some extra time....if I have to put my fork down more than twice, I'm Finished eating....

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
