kileybug34 173 Posted February 5, 2013 My sister said I was taking the easy way out...well I have news for her, being fat isn't easy either. The Lap Band isn't going to be any easier too. It takes work no matter the situation. People are so rude. I can't wait to see if people treat me any different when I have reached my goal.
Spaness2012 609 Posted February 5, 2013 I don't want to shout it from the rooftops either however, I have to remember that although my hubby is super supportive, this changes his life too. He has fears of the surgery going well, anxious about what he is eating in front of me, etc. He is anxious too....for me to have forbid him to tell anyone was too much of a burden for him. I tell who I tell...when I tell it (if at all). But I will also remember that my family is along for this ride too. Good luck...pretty-faced girl. 1 cullychick reacted to this
peachesrlush 8 Posted February 6, 2013 I only told a hand full of ppl that I was having the op cos I didn't want to hear u don't need it ect. When I went for ny first consultation a woman there just had her first fill she said those very words, u don't need the op. I was like 6 stone over weight .since having the op I've told ppl a lot of supportive but a few have said what a waste of money, u don't needn't, your very pretty that may be so but on the inside I don't feel pretty,.I don't like carrying the extra weight neither do ny knees or back. I did this for me, no one else.
LeeB1946 261 Posted February 8, 2013 Sure glad I never had a MIL. I would probably lose it if someone said something like that to me. Sounds like some of your MIL's would like to keep you fat just to have it to throw back at their sons for marring a full figure girl. Keep up the good work ladies and don't the MIL's get you down. 1 cullychick reacted to this
JBooze1989 8 Posted February 8, 2013 This happened with my grandmother the day before my surgery!! It was so frustrating she wanted me to do all these diets and other crazy things. My fathers side reactions were all the same. It's frustrating but keep confident in what you want!! You'll get more comfortable with talking about it as time goes by remember its you that matters! You are strong! You can do this!!! Good Luck! 1 cullychick reacted to this
dhg 4 Posted February 8, 2013 Hi. You will have people who will not be supportive. I am 5'5'' and weighed 207 and I was banded Jan 7. down 18 lbs so far and I have no regrets about doing the band. My parents were not supportive at all cause I went to Mexico, which I would do all over again, but I had my husband's support and support of good friends so that was all I needed. Take it with a grain of salt and do it for you!!! 2 cullychick and ☠carolinagirl☠ reacted to this
acoleman380 23 Posted February 10, 2013 I told pretty much everyone about my surgery because i was so excited about it. I think the fact that i always told people about and was always confident in my decision i never really got any negativity. My mom was a little worried at first but only because she didnt know much about it, but never said one neg thing about it and her and my dad, and my husband were with me on surgery day. I wouldnt worry about what people say....when they see how great you are going to do, they wont have much to say. I dare someone to tell me i took the easy way out. There is NOTHING easy about having surgery, and watching every single thing that goes in your mouth, and chewing a million times, exercising, etc....we do the same thing that people that dont have the band do. We watch what we eat, we exercise, we work hard too. The only difference is we have a tool that allows us to eat alot less of those foods! Hold uour head high in your decision....you are saving your own life!! Xoxo 1 cullychick reacted to this
