Today I had an adjustment appt. and after 7hrs at the hospital they discovered that I have scar tissue growing over my band which is causing it to only fill on one side. I have to have surgery sometime this week to correct it. If I can't keep Clear Liquids down then I may need to have emergency surgery this weekend. I'm only 9wks post op but feel so discouraged with this set back. Anyone else have this happen?

That sounds awful. I'm sorry you have to go through this. Hopefully they will be able to remove the scar tissue easily. Did you have any symptoms alerting them to the problem, or was it just found when they attempted to do a fill? Don't let it get you down. Your doctor is there for you and will get your band working again. :)

They found out when they did the fill it was too tight so they tried to remove some and it wouldn't come out. They thought my port was tilted was it was fine. After fluro they noticed it on the screen when they put contrast in it only filled one side of the band. That's when they noticed the scar tissue restricting the fill. No symptoms at all.

Oh - I am sorry to hear this. Try not to be discouraged....this was nothing you could have helped and they caught it before it became a really big issue. Your journey is just a little different than the norm...but that will make the ending even better!

Take care.

I like positive! The positive is.....sounds like you're a fast healer so you'll have less surgery scars :) I think that what has happened sounds reasonable if you think about the body. I think you'll be fine at least you are not band bashing already! So proud of you for your outlook and your journey !

Thank you. I do believe this is kinda like a freak thing to happen. I did alot of homework before surgery and never came across this so no reason to bash my band lol. However I do get upset because I have a co worker who was banded and does all the no no's of banding such as Chinese food, sodas, pizza, and bread on a daily basis and she makes me feel bad about how much I have lost. She was banded 7mnths prior to me. I feel frustrated I have been following the rules but this happened to me. I'm going to stay positive and trust my doctors and go from there.

Yes sometimes life is ironic. However you know the rules and are playing by them. Once this bump in the road is fixed for you. You will be back on your way to a healthy life as for your coworker if she keeps these habits up she will never have success.

I hope your recovery goes well.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
