Fiber supplement

Recommended Posts

Has anyone heard of the Fiber supplement called PGX? I was wondering if it is ok to take fiber with a lap band.

Yes I take fibre everyday as advised by my nutritionist, it certainly helps keep me regular. I take benefibre, I mix it into my Water and I can't taste it. You need to be careful with some of the fibers out there as some can clog the stoma area, I find benefibre doesn't have that effect on me personally so it might be trial and error with some of them till you find what works fine with your body.

No problem in general with fiber supplements, but I am not familiar with the one you mention.

Haven't seen that one either. I take two fiber gummies every day also...cleared by my doc. That helps keep me on track.

I also take fiber daily, it really helps to stay feeling full and keeps you regular. I take the chewable tablets, generic brand.

Thanks for all the replies. PGX is basically glucomannan which is a natural fiber you can get at the health food store. I saw it on Dr. Oz. Since the chewable ones seem to fill you up and keep you regular I may just pick some up at Walmart. Thanks guys

Original poster are you outside of the US? Last I heard Benefiber was no longer sold in the US. I buy a flavorless fiber powder at costco that I add to my daily yogurt. I also take a couple Vitafusion Gummy fiber chews.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
