I was wondering how long everyone needed off work after the surgery? I know everyone is different, but was was wondering if it is normally closer to 2 weeks or 4. I am scheduled for surgery this Wednesday Feb the 6th, so I was just curious how long I may be off.

I was told that I could return to my desk job on Monday. My surgery is scheduled for a Friday. It depends on your job, your doctor and of course how your body will respond.

Had surgery on Thursday and back to work on Monday! If you do heavy lifting in your job that could make a difference!

I had 1 week off!! I'm on my feet for 6 hours a day and the first day back was a killer!! But the day after I felt awesome!! Like I hadn't even had the surgery. I think all that walking and being back to normal helped with all the gas and helped my recovery!! But everyone is different! :0)

I have two weeks off my surgery was last Thursday. It depends on how you heal and your job.

I had my surgery on a Wednesday, went to a party Saturday and went back to work on Monday. My job is sedentary so there was no stress there. And I think I have a very high tolerance for pain. Everyone is different, let yourself heal. But getting up and moving helps speed along the healing process!

I have my surgery on Monday, Jan. 21. I returned back to work on Tuesday, Jan. 28. I am a teacher. I have definitely been tired in the evenings but I've done well. I also think I have a pretty high tolerance for pain. I only took one dose of the pain killers before I moved on to just liquid tylenol. The heating pad and sf popsicles were my best friends for that week off work. Good luck with your surgery!

I had mine the Friday before Christmas. 12/21. I have a desk job and although I went back to work because of the holiday I was out and about Monday shopping for six hours and driving myself. I think the walking helps tremendously. I didn't take any kind of meds or pain killers. But I slept like a bear from the minute I got home until 3pm the next day waking up every two hours to drink Water and take a stroll. Definitely listen to your body. And make sure you rest up! :-)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
