Soooo nervous today... I actually put on a bikini (and when I say put on I mean greased my sides and ROLLED it on) and had my husband take some "before" pictures. I am not going to post them yet because they are so gross, but I'll take another picture once a week until I hit goal... might be a fun little gif. when they are all combined in to a video. Hopefully I'll look like the incredible shrinking woman.

thanks for the words of encouragement... I'll keep you guys posted - Lets do this together :)

Wow, that is a great idea Florida. I may do a tankini instead. Scars. lol. I have lots of them. Did you buy a goal weight bikini or did you get one that fits?

Dont worry about scars (I had a double mastectomy... so i have a lot of scars on my front and back ) I honestly love my scars, I call them battle wounds. - Or say I was attacked by a shark.

I bought a goal weight bikini and put the Lycra to the test :)

I am new to this board but feel like I'm in the right place! My banding is tomorrow at 8:30am! I am excited but nervous. Had to take a Xanax each day this week just to keep the bad thoughts away. My Dr required absolutely no pre-op diet. I was nervous about that, but found mention of others with similar situations on this forum. I've tried several shakes/protein powders just so I know what to expect.

Like most, I've spent years gaining and losing the same 50 lbs. As my 50th Bday approached I decided to finally do something about it. After 4 months of a medically supervised program, Aetna rejected the procedure TWICE! Inexplicably, they reversed prior to a scheduled peer to peer review last November.

My starting weight is 245 and I'd like to see 160 as a goal. Not sure if that's even realistic though!

My nervousness revolves about post op life. My husband and I own a Liquor store/Deli and catering business. I'm surrounded by food all day-buying it, menu development, product testing. My concern is not wanting to share my surgical choice - it's just not how I'm wired. I've told only family and 2 friends and wish I hadn't told 1 or 2 of those!

Sorry to ramble - just looking for some encouragement that I've made the right choice and that in 12 hours some of my anxiety will be resolved.

50 for 50, welcome to the group. You've worked on this for a long time (it sounds like), getting rejected twice after doing medically supervised programs. You know you need to do this, you know you want to do this, and you know you can do this, and most importantly, you know it will be successful. Because really, our success is ultimately up to us. And if we are committed, we will be successful. It sounds like you are there and ready to take this on.

The deli/catering business may put a big boulder in your way that you have to crawl around once in a while, but you can do it. Get someone else to do the tasting and move your priorities to marketing and presentation. You KNOW you can do it. Try not to be too nervous between now and the time for anesthesia. After that point, it is all over and you'll be ready to lost the weight that has stayed with you all these years. My starting weight was 270, but I'm down a few from there now. My goal is 160 and heck yes, it is achievable. So it is achievable for you too. I got on our wii fit today to do a body assessment. It tells me my perfect weight would be at 135. I was 150 when I married my favorite man in the world 27 years ago. And I was very happy with 150. Looked good, had muscle, couldn't see much flab anywhere. I could probably "pinch an inch" but that was about all. So my 160 goal sounds more realistic for me than 135. I didn't see how tall you are, but since we are starting at about the same weight, and wanting to lose down to the same spot, we should definitely encourage one another on.

For tonight, don't let any of those negative thoughts scare you out of this. You've worked hard to get here, and your psychologist evaluation must have stated that you are ready for it.

My advice, for the rest of the night, turn off the computer, go have one last indulgence before midnight, and then enjoy laying in bed, watching a movie, soaking in a bubblebath, going for a walk, paint your toenails, or do whatever you need to do to keep your mind off of the surgery. And when tomorrow comes, say a prayer that all will go well, and please know that we are all thinking of you. Welcome to our group. Cindy

Here we go!

Hey ladies, I'll be thinking of you and watching for your posts. Try not to be too scared. I have had several other types of surgeries through the years, and there is always a good staff there to take care of you, from the anesthetist, nurses, surgeon, assistants, etc. You'll be in good hands and you are finally ready to be given the tool to aid in your weight loss. You go girls! I'm happy for you.

Hey alll :) how are the other gals? I made it home... feel pretty darn good. - I had terrible nausea at the hospital... but that has finally gone away. Now I keep getting the hiccups. I read on here that that is a good warning sign that you are full and to stop eating... however, I haven't eaten anything. (drank some Water though) anyone else experience that?

They let you go home? Wow, that's great! They told me I will spending one night in the hospital. Maybe because they found a Hiatal Hernia that will be repairing too. How sore are you? Dave

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
