chantelleb816 33 Posted January 31, 2013 How long did it take you post op to sleep in your bed?
Summerrain 520 Posted January 31, 2013 The same day I was banded, it hurt like hell to get in bed but my husband helped me and I slept with lots of pillows so I was in an upright position. By the third night I'd wake up laying down with pillows under my tummy for support as I slept on my side.
B-52 7,113 Posted January 31, 2013 I could have slept in my bed that very same night.... BUT... When I got home from surgery, I was happy to sit in my lazy boy in front of the big scrren with a warm comforter, some chicken broth, Water...and my PAIN KILLERS ..... I was not going anywhere! You could not get me up to go to to bed..... 3 ☠carolinagirl☠, Onamissionn2013 and Terry Poperszky reacted to this
Trikki87 20 Posted January 31, 2013 because of gas pains, i couldn't lay down for about 3 days. i couldn't lay down comfortably for about 6. back to normal in about 12days (normal meaning me being able to sleep on my stomach)
ashchap13 23 Posted January 31, 2013 I slept in bed the first night. Found a position that worked & stayed there. I'm on day 3 & it's getting a lot easier. I have port pain still but other than that healing pretty well. Good luck! 1 ☠carolinagirl☠ reacted to this
lvaughn12 15 Posted January 31, 2013 It took me a week to sleep in my bed. I slept in the recliner every night. I did have a lot of gas pain in my left should so i couldn't get comfortable laying in the bed bc believe me I tried every night!
brannewmee 103 Posted February 1, 2013 I guess I was lucky. I slept well in my bed n read somewhere not to sleep horizontally. I think that's on your side. So I slept on my back propped up on about 4 pillows ( which is what my docs paperwork said to do) 1 ☠carolinagirl☠ reacted to this
Mgpana16 0 Posted February 1, 2013 I slept in my recliner for a month, it was very comfortable for me. Lucky for me it is right next to my bed so my partner was close by at all times in case I needed anything.
☠carolinagirl☠ 18,721 Posted February 1, 2013 i also slept in my bed first night home (with a pillow near where my port was)
npohuski 11 Posted February 4, 2013 I had surgery on the 29th. I am still sleeping in the recliner. I am a stomach sleeper and I just can't get comfortable.
lawrenceda 4 Posted February 4, 2013 Banded on Jan 21st at 12:00pm... Up walking at 4:00pm .... No pain, whatsoever, Have slept very well. I sometimes have to look at the small incisions to remind myself I had anything done. I guess I'm one of the lucky ones. 3 Trikki87, chantelleb816 and Terry Poperszky reacted to this
pshae 4 Posted February 5, 2013 I was banded on 1/31/13. I have slept in my bed. On my back, and my side
Chris A 20 Posted February 5, 2013 I too was banded on 1/31/13. Slept in my bed the night of surgery. I am a side sleeper predominantly but since getting the band I've been on my back like a turtle in bed. Lucky for me after the first night I was able to lay flat but even on day 5 it's not comfortable for me to sleep on my sides yet. I can lay on them for a few minutes but then I have to get off them. It's a 50/50 thing on my part I think. Part discomfort (not so much pain) and part mental block telling me hey yahoo...you just had surgery 5 days ago, stop putting that kind of stress on those incisions by laying on your side, do you want to tear one of them open???? So 5-15 minutes later I am back on my back

anniearrr 59 Posted February 5, 2013 I'm a side sleeper and was sleeping on my non-port side 2 days after surgery, with a pillow propped up against my back for support. It seemed with the pillow propping me, it wasnt so hard on my muscles. I'm on day 11 post op and I still can't sleep on the port side, but the other side is fine
