Erika Rae 0 Posted January 30, 2013 Hello all!! My insurance requires 12 consecutive months of physician supervised diet and excercise. I completed my year in July of 2012. My insurance has denied my three times because they see no risk versus benefit. They denial letters continue to say, in so many words, that I am a healthy fat person. I am currently on appeal number four. Has anyone else had to jump through soo many hoops to get approved???
DELETE THIS ACCOUNT! 12,703 Posted January 30, 2013 Wow, that is just awful. I've not gone through that but I've heard of others who have. Hopefully someone will see your post and chime in. Hang in there and don't give up!

MissKasey 0 Posted January 30, 2013 what insurance do you have?
tera73 34 Posted April 4, 2018 P.E.I.ADid you ever get approved? I have PEIA too.
Hrsnjs 267 Posted July 24, 2018 I also have PEIA and after meeting every condition in their policy, I’ve also been denied basically because my co-morbid conditions are well controlled with pharmaceuticals and CPAP therapy. I’m in the first phase of my first appeal. PEIA is completely in opposition to what is best for its subscribers. They’re going to have a fight on their hands with the help of the State Insurance Commission and an attorney, if necessary. Anyone who is in this process...keep it up! tera73 34 Posted July 24, 2018 I ended up doing everything they wanted and got approved...my surgery was May 7.
tera73 34 Posted July 24, 2018 I hope yours gets approved. I had no co morbid conditions...only BMI.
Hrsnjs 267 Posted July 24, 2018 YAY!! I am so excited for you. Congrats! I hope to be there as well in the near future. I’ll keep it up, as long as it takes. I’m glad to know they HAVE approved people and covered it. That gives me hope. As the benefits decline and costs increase, I worry they will stop covering it all together. Hrsnjs 267 Posted July 24, 2018 Good to know, as well! I have diabetes, high blood pressure and sleep apnea. You’d think they’d be ready to help me get off the meds and machines...will save them money in the long run!
tera73 34 Posted July 24, 2018 Yea, I’m definitely not satisfied with how things have happened with PEIA over the past months. Keep fighting!
