why did you choose the band? How much weight did you lose?

Recommended Posts

I chose the band over Gastric Bypass or the Sleeve because I couldn't justify cutting out 3/4 of my stomach or re-routing my intestines. I also didn't want to deal with malabsorbtion or dumping. The band is reversible with much less risk of serious complications, so it was the right choice for me.

As for weight loss, I've lost 183 pounds in a little more than a year.

I love my band. It's the best decision I've ever made for myself.

Ditto what Missy said. Banded on 1/7/13 and I have lost 30 pounds and feel great. the LB isn't for everyone, but it is for me.

I chose the band for many of the same reasons Missy did. Two family members had the gastric by-pass and had every possible complication you could imagine. It was just too drastic for me. My surgery was almost a month ago and I've lost 19 pounds as of a few days ago. I feel great! I go for my first fill on Thursday.

I chose the band because of all the WLS out there the band didn't rearrange my anatomy or bodily functions and it can be removed should there be problems. It is a long term solution to help you lose but more importantly for me it helps me keep off the weight. No diet has ever done that. It's a permanant reminder of a temporary feeling!!!

I lost 220 lbs in 23 months...

I chose the band because like stated above, I did not want the invasiveness of other WLS. I knew if I had a tool I could be successful and i was right. I love my band, it has given me everything I wanted in my weight loss journey. It took me 2 years and i lost 126 lbs, I reached goal September 9th last year and have maintained at or below since that date.

whichever you decide, please note its not a miracle cure all. you have to change what you eat and how much and def develop a new outlook on exercise. my dr said to me no matter what WLS you get, if you dont adhere to the rules of eating, you wont lose. choose what works for you. dont go by the pounds you see lost on some people. success varies by person.

I chose the band as a form of reinforcement to keep the weight off. I've lost nearly 30 kilos on diet and exercise before to only but it back on twice. I was disappointed that despite healthy eating, I was never satisfied with a normal portion of food.

Whilst I never looked into the sleeve or bypass, I had originally considered the balloon, an inflatable temporary item suspended in my stomach for 6-12 months. Through discussion with the surgeon he dismissed it as a long term effective tool, and I was likely to end up yo yoing back in a few years time.

My weight was 286 on surgery day...I didn't do a pre op diet as it wasn't required by my surgeon....I log everything that I eat at myfitnesspal...my calories vary between 700-900, I get around 80 grms of Protein daily, I eat very little carbs, I eat, lean meat, fish, vegetables, yoghurt, Beans and fruit mostly , I also have a Protein shake sometimes when I need to get more calories or Protein in me and I walk 7 days a week! :)

I chose the band to have a physical consequence to my eating as hypothetical health threats are not motivation for me.

I chose the band over the others because it is removable and I did not want to be cut. In fact, I signed a paper that if he wasn't able to do the band laproscopically - he was to wheel me right back out of the operating room and abort the entire mission.

I've not lost as much as I should - but that is my fault. I am lazy and I like Cookies. The band did and continues to do it's part.

Ditto with what everyone said. My surgeon only put me on liquid for 1 day before the surgery. I have lost 24 lbs since my procedure.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
