CatLady0626 45 Posted January 28, 2013 I'm ten days post-op and I'm so worn out! Still supposed to be on full liquids but I've gotten so hungry at times that I had some egg salad and tuna salad on different occasions. I'm still struggling at times to get my Protein. Am I worn out because of that, or is this normal? I'm going back to work today and I'm just dreading it.
JARS517 54 Posted January 28, 2013 Are you drinking Protein Shakes? I have 3 a day to get my Protein requirements. I'm 7 days post-op and it'll be another week before I can move onto pureed food (like refried Beans, yogurt, etc.) I'm still 3 weeks away from egg salad and chicken/tuna salad. I can have cream Soups that have blended well. 1 2muchfun reacted to this
Pana'sNewStart 68 Posted January 28, 2013 I think Protein Shakes will help a lot! They will curb your appetite and give your body some fuel to help you feel not so run down. Protein is really important and sometimes a shake will give you just what you need. Adding yogurt, a banana or Peanut Butter will add protein and thicken it up so it stays in your small stomach longer.
CatLady0626 45 Posted January 28, 2013 I'm having Protein Shakes but even just two a day is tough! I need to just suck it up and do it. It will make me feel better I'm sure.
mariag 6 Posted January 29, 2013 What kind/brand of Protein Shakes do you all suggest?
CatLady0626 45 Posted January 29, 2013 What kind/brand of Protein shakes do you all suggest? I suggest EAS Soy Protein powder from Walmart. It is vanilla and when mixed with milk tastes like vanilla pudding (somewhat). I've been putting a spoonful of Peanut Butter in with it for added Protein and flavor. Yummy! catfish87 3,471 Posted January 29, 2013 Muscle Milk light. 20g Protein, 160 calories. chocolate flavor is my favorite. They come premixed, ready to drink or they also have powder form. If you're having trouble getting in enough, there is a "New whey liquid protein" 42g Protein and 180 calories at GNC and elsewhere I'm sure. I don't like the taste of these, but they are small quanity, maybe like 4oz or so. Lots of protein in such a small volume.
