Lapband surgery April 17th

Recommended Posts

My Lapband surgery is TOMORROW ...... April 17th at 7:30

AM. I have to be there ar 6:30 AM and Topeko, KS is 2 hours from

where I live!! Part of me is very excited, yet part of me is scared

to death!! This will be a life changing surgery ... my life will

never be the same again ..... the way I eat will never be the same

again .... the person I am will never be the same!! I am kinda

referring to my surgery date as my 're-birth day'.

The 10 day pre-op diet has not been as bad as I thought it might

be. I have not cheated once I can say!! The hardest part is fixing

meals for my family and not eating it.

Say a prayers for em PLEASE!!

Sherri, congratulations to you and Amourette. I think there is one other person but I can't find my list to check. So, the best to that person also. Sherri you will be just fine, and yes you are starting a brand new exciting life. But look at all the people you have pulling for you on the other side. I hope to join you next Monday. Let us know how your doing after your surgery.

Roberta

It is really normal to be nervous. Be good to yourself today. You are in for a lot of changes, but it is good stuff. Keep reading and posting here - I think it helps. Good luck to you.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
