Still having head hunger :(, but trying to do my best not to mess this up for me. I realized that for me this is an addiction* I've gone to see a psychologist. Hoping that this tool will help me. So far 44 lbs gone. It has taken a while. I was band 6/19.

You are not alone. I found this comment on another site and I find it to be so true:

" In my case, the most fearful thing I had to do in order to succeed with my band wasn't switching to skim milk, surviving a liquid diet, or giving up bread. The most fearful thing was giving up my emotional attachment to food. In the nearly 5 years since I was banded, I've made a lot of progress with that, but the attachment is still there. It forms one of the innermost layers of my turtle shell. Working on that layer will probably be a lifetime job for me. At times I'm not even sure I truly want to get rid of it altogether. At times I'm afraid that if I shed my shell completely, I won't be able to survive. On the other hand, I seem to be doing fine without that thick old b***h layer. So I'm going to pay attention to my dreams rather than my fears and pray for a miracle. And why not? It can't hurt to try!"

Your addiction won't go away in less than a year and maybe never. But as long as you keep up the fight, you're making headway.

Hang in there. We all have a food addiction of some sort. Try to keep busy, take up a new hobby, go for walks. Hugs!!!

Try to find (if you haven't already) healthy alternatives of the foods you enjoyed before may help too. I found a low cal/low fat lasagna, healthy Pasta recipes, baked chicken instead of fried, etc.... It may help to meet w/ a nutritionist too to have meal plans or meal/snack ideas to make sure you are supporting yourself in everyway possible.

I'm still trying to figure things out, but feel better than I have been for a while. Just get nostalgic every now and then.

i have those feelings (fears?) quite often myself

all those years of yo yo'ing always makes me think, am i gonna screw this up too?

the band will help us eat less. you have lost a good bit so good for you. we all cant lose 1 zillion pounds quickly..but if we keep going, keep trying and believe we can, we will get there. hang in there okay sweetie

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
