I don't loose site of the Forrest because of the trees....it's a lifestyle change for me, not a day to day, hour by hour diet.....

Of course, a lot depends upon where you're at with your band.....until then......

IF there is something I really want, I have some of it. I usually give myself one day a week to really go out and eat those type foods that I try to stay away from most days. I have found, though, that the Atkins bars are very tasty. My faves are the dark chocolate coconut almond (yummy) and the coconut (almost like Mounds bar). I like many of the flavors. Chocolate/caramel is good and the creamy Peanut Butter is good....etc.... Very tasty. I am perfectly satisfied having one of those bars versus a candy bar. But if you want just a little something, the Russell Stovers Sugar Free Chocolates are good too. and the Weight Watchers ones. I like that they are individually wrapped. I'm usually good about controlling my urge to eat more than one (sometimes 2) since they are wrapped that way. I agree with the above poster about the dulce de leche sf pudding. very good. I also like the sf Creme Brulee.

I have a recipe for Energy Balls - you can substitute as you see fit to accommodate your diet, but the basics are:

1 cup dried oats

1 cup toasted coconut

1/2 cup Peanut Butter

1/2 cup ground flax seed

1/2 cup chocolate chips

1/3 cup honey

1 tsp vanilla

Mix, ball, eat.

Bite size servings help me portion, flax seed is like a miracle nutrient, and if I am careful with the sweet stuff and use bariatric peanut butter...it is a treat I am ok with having.

Good Luck!

Don't remember where I saw it recently but I heard that sweet Cereal has its place in life - exactly what ur here for. Usually I don't eat Cereal (hubby is a low carber so I don't usually even buy it) but I've recently begun eating a sweetened cereal when I get a massive sweet tooth. I can have 1\2 cup of Honeynut Cheerios, feel like I splurged, and don't harm my weight at all.

I "like" dark chocolate but don't "love " it so I'm able to keep the Hershey Bliss or Dove dark chocolate individually wrapped pieces Onhand for times when I'm craving chocolate. I keep them in a sealed container on the top shelf of the pantry so that I really have to want them. I've also found a chocolate Protein Drink at Wal Mart that is like chocolate milk to me. They sell it in the milk and juice case.

Mix cool whip lite or ff with unsweetened cocoa to taste and fridge or freeze. Comes out like rich chocolate. I also sometimes add PB2. I have also done with sf ff instant pudding. love the lemon. I only use two or three big tbls of cool whip. You control the amounts and calories. You will not believe it is not higher in fat or sugar.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
